  1. July 2011 guy here... Bittervet pride i suppose ;D
  2. That is true for sub orbital engines however for orbital maneuvers i feel it is better to have a single engine with more fuel. Less total weight for equivelant thrust.
  3. Hell building a 100ton station is easy. The hard part is making the 600ton lifter to carry it up there.
  4. Building a station at the moment. Its fully stock and fairly light in wait (i think it was about 30 tons) However it is huge. Trying to get it off the ground at the moment so far my lifter is upwards of 500tons (its stock so going into orbit 'fully assembled' creates HUGE drag)
  5. That was some mighty fine German engineering right there.
  6. Challenge is simple. How fast can you go well still in contact with the surface of the mun? Only stock parts though (mechjeb is alowed but not for use in challenge) Ill Start off with a measly 41.6m/s. Any faster and ill either bounce out of control or my module will fall apart. Mine aint excatly built for speed :-[. Proof must include your pic of max speed AND proof that your craft came to a controled stop after the speed run fully intact. I recommend a quicksave. The challenge isnt as easy as it seems mun has low gravity and bounces around 30ms can rip your command module off. 1. CtrlAltELITE - 41.6m/s 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.
  7. Confirming that a 39ton object traveling at 400m/s does not cause a scratch. Actually survived to survey the damaged(thank god for mechjeb PANIC!!! button) sadly the kerbals who done the research are stranded in mun orbit since there lander was too badly damaged for the return trip.
  8. Rolling with a Humpback. The way its MEANT to be done! 8) It gets into a low kerbin orbit. If yourcareful you have enough fuel left to de-orbit at base but if your not you gotta do it on RCS (either way you get home =P) Craft is attatched. Beware the big plane lurches and it difficult to land (it is possible though just dont go too nose up). Dont pull any crazy shit in it either as the spaceplane has a habit of flying off. Detatch the spaceplane at about 10-12km up and fly straight up as you can (disable SAS). Achieve orbit, Return home. Been thinking of adding a mechjeb but havnt got around to it (its fully stock)
  9. Confirming Classic Rock is best for launches 8)
  10. Pfft. Didnt even notice that until stelar pointed it out =D.
  11. so... Challenge to see who can get there orbit so low that they fly under the arch? 8)
  12. NASA is old news. CNSA is the future.
