  1. KSP 2. Well I'll be shot into space on a Whackjob monstrosity. Nice work.
  2. First mission since i hadn't been playing for about 2+ years, slapped together a quick SRB, capsule, parachute, and go! ....hmm, apparently fins are no longer an optional thing. *sweeps Jebediah up from across the landscape* (the capsule actually survived the first 2 or 3 bounces!) With Jebediah Kerman? It's practically a guarantee. He probably got out and pushed the capsule with his EVA pack to make sure it happened.
  3. Well, after randomly running into what turned out to be a fellow KSP player at lunch today (seriously, what a coincidence!) I'm here on a slightly newer refurb laptop, downloading 1.4.2. Considering my first version was 0.20 (I think, it was $18!), i'm looking forward to exploring again! Heeeeeeeeeere we go again!
  4. I know he landed in the wrong place, but planting that plane on top of the VAB has to be worth a Jeb point or something!
  5. If whackjob enters, it would be the self-destructing Enterprise from Star Trek III
  6. He is The Whack. If there's a patron saint of KSP, he's it. In fact, I propose that Squad dedicate to him the ultimate honor: Naming a Kerbal after him.
  7. "reasonable part count" and "whackjob" are three words i didn't really expect to see in the same forum anytime soon...
  8. Hah. Why am I not surprised an old EV hand would be doing impossible things around the KSP forums?
  9. On behalf of pretty much everyone here on the Kerbal forums, may I just nominate this for "yes, it wouldn't be KSP without THIS " Award.
  10. Although if they have Star Trek on Kerbin, all the Klingon names probably start with "H"!
  11. My first flight was a suborbital test hop to see how far a single tank and engine would take a capsule + parachute. Then 2 tanks, 3 tanks, etc. That was 0.13, then stopped playing around 0.18 because the lag just got so bad. Back with 0.23, there's been some serious code optimization and I can play the game again! (I've got a laptop, not huge horsepower.)
  12. Thanks, Collin! What worried me was that usually the indicator changes color and this time it didn't.
  13. Full version, I'm just very, very bad pilot! (when i land on land, my landing legs absorb impact, on water, no such luck!)
  14. Chute opened. I landed on water, broke stuff and lost all the science but i've got Bill home. Thanks, guys! (yes, i need to redesign this thing!)
  15. ok - i reset staging, heard a noise when i triggered it but it's on the dark side so i'm kinda praying it works
  16. Managed to revert by quitting game, but i still have no primed chute. spacewalked, nearly touched the parachute but still no option to repack when right clicking the parachute...the parachute looks just like it's packed like your picture, it has not opened!
  17. I'm on the mission; in the middle of re-entry. (the BEST time to find out your parachute doesn't work!)
  18. Yes, it's supposed to be light blue. didn't know you had to repack it; no way to revert so i think Bob's dead meat. Bummer.
  19. I can select altitude and pressure, but no 'force deploy' button...version 0.23.
  20. I made the mistake of staging all the way through to parachute in space, and now the staging color is gray, which i believe means parachute won't open. I've gone through hell and back to get Bill Kerbin home, how can i prevent him from faceplanting into Kerbin? (He's at 30k altitude and the game is paused, advice appreciated!)
  21. Ran out of gas on the way back from the Mun, elliptical orbit between just past Mun orbit and 65k elevation. I waited till i got back to apoapsis, lined up retrograde, spacewalked, pushed with Bob's jetpack, got back in; successfully modified my periapsis by 20km... ...you're way ahead of me, obviously, and you've guess that when i was back in the capsule I found i'd burned the wrong way and my 65k periapsis was now 85k!
