  1. A 96 ton lander/skyscraper that put 101 kerbals on the Mun. Party time!
  2. The parachutes partially deploy around 21,000 meters above the surface, and they fully deploy exactly 500 meters above the ground. So if the terrain you're above is at 3,000 meters, they will fully deploy at 3,500. Drogue chutes have slightly different parameters. I'm not sure how they're set up.
  3. I did it! This was something I had tried in the past, but never had much success. This time around though, everything worked brilliantly. My favorite screenshot from the mission. Here's the full album. I'm going to give this another shot later, I think I can improve the design a lot. Your rover can effectively aim the hook Yes! By walking with the Kerbal on the roof, I have full control over where the hook goes Your rover drives well off walls I guess so. It's not nimble but it isn't prone to tipping, and can travel at speed. Your rover can move from walls onto roofs Your rover can climb on top of overhangs (such as onto the top of the control tower) Yup, even though this demonstration was on a flat wall, the other grappling hook keeps it away from overhangs. Your rover is easy to transport I didn't have any difficulty moving it around.
  4. That's awesome. Also, we have time for long stories! The MT-GAT Mk3 claims another mountaintop! What should I name this place?
  5. I hereby claim Mount Herzor, the highest peak of the KSC mountain range.
  6. I took the BFE-5000, built a gigantic rocket, and landed it on the Mun as trophy! It's nonfunctional, but I'm trying to fix that.
  7. It seems like the BFE is totally dead. I .cfg edited it to basically be a 5000kn skipper engine, but it produces no thrust.
  8. Watch Here! I will be attempting to get a 15 ton Mecha onto another world! Live stream starts at 12:45 EDT and will probably be up for 1-4 hours. Edit: It's over, I'll probably take some time and splice together an album or two. It was a total success! In case anyone wants to watch what happened (not nearly as much fun as live), then here is my reddit comment with links and times.
  9. Don't mind me, just walking through... In a 15 ton KAS powered Mech! Edit: I redid its face a little and added plates to the legs: Since taking that screenshot I've reworked the toes a bit too. I might try combining the action groups of the legs, fully independent control of each joint is very clunky. All right, last edit: I combined the two action groups, so instead of fiddling with 8 buttons, it's just 4. Move leg forward, grapple, move other leg forward, grapple. It works really well (relatively), it started off right next to the lander can. The mech still requires hacked gravity to walk though; I might eventually find a way to make it sturdier, but a key part of the legs is that they have easily bent joints. Once I'm done developing, I'll shoot if off to Minmus, where gravity is much kinder.

  11. KAS is now the best mod ever. Using the techniques learned from building it, I started work on a Mech. It's currently under development. Here's an early version After a bit more development, I sent it on its first test run. Thanks to grappling hooks on its feet, it managed two steps using hacked gravity before running out of power.
  12. After putting a crossbow on Dres, I wondered, "How will I top this?" Now I know. I built a fully functional robotic arm using KAS to act as tendons. It works wonderfully and has great range of motion. Using this kind of technique, I plan to build a bipedal robot.
