You only have one throttle control. For a vertical take-off, you need to first fire up the hover jets and let them spool up, then start the main jet to go forward. When you're going forward fast enough, you cut the hover jets. If this slams the lids on them, you will have jets producing thrust inside a closed bay.

I don't know if the Junos are powerful enough to blow up the bays should this happen (rocket hover thrusters certainly are), but I don't want to design it so this happens even if it doesn't, just because you're not supposed to slam a lid on a jet that's producing thrust.

Feel free to modify the control scheme as you see fit, of course, if you want to give it a spin!

i have done it in the past with no problem, you can try and see if it works

Jets take time to spool up and down, so this would slam the bays shut on them while they're near full power. You'd have to cut throttle and wait for them to spin down first, and that would make vertical take-offs much more complicated because there you want to cut the hover jets while the forward jet is at full power.

if your going fast enough forward i does not matter if you hover engine's are cut of

Sorry I'm only replying to this now, but i was wondering what mod those pipes on the wall and the door come from. I remember seeing them in Felbourn's Project Odyssey but I can't figure out where they come from.

Dam man that looks nice. Have a like on me

Hhhuuu? I thought i was quoting on the controlroom.

Nevermind, put the pad on the wide area in the back. It'll look best that way.

Also, you should make a minisub garage, Remove some floor paneling to cut a square hole in the boat's floor. Then suspend the minisub from the ceiling with KAS.

that wide area is indeed the landing deck

but o my god the game lags when i get neer the yacht

    landed after three try's

o and i dont need to remove parts of the floor for a minisub

there already is a dock in the planing

Well, lets hope so, but from my experience with builds like these, I can already tell that its propably going have a pretty high part count (because of the record braking wings witch are thick enough to have human sized crawl spaces), but the fuselage is rounded, so fairings to the rescue (bombays cant be made out of fairings tough). Plus, if you want a see-trough cockpit like the one in my B-17, That is going to eat up a lot of parts.

The standaart copit now can be see trought

And just when i was thinking about making my own Convair B-36 Piecemaker (fully stock and 1:1 scale of course) using a "little" (bout 90 cm wing span) papermodel of the aircraft as reference (Built it about 2 to 3 weeks ago).

And now with 1.1 around the corner, it should be much more doable than before.

Anyway. Well done on all of these crafts, especially on the paint jobs, very nice and clean.

Using the right parts this plane should not have a high part count

    Thanks Gryphorim!

The craft I posted above are all stock, no mods... The mk2 drone core you're referring to is actually an upside down standard mk2 cockpit with an air intake clip job so the underside looks flush (I'd post a pic, but my PC died ;.;).

You can always download the craft to check it out, easy as, no mods required!

    Rip yakuzi's pc.

And may flights of kerbals guided thy to thy rest.

But seriously, is that the performance of 1.1? How many parts could you run in 1.0.5?

    Its 1.1.

I dont now how many parts i could run in 1.0.5

But in the past versions i ran up to 1500 parts

    Is it stock?

This should be fairly lag free in 1.1.

    EDIT:

1,1 means 1.1.  I should have noticed that.

    Yes this stock.

But i am thinking about using welding.

At 1600+ parts its starting to lag a lot.

    I dont understand why lol
