  1. The universe laughs at your plans! Or it usually laughs at mine, at least.
  2. I used to call my Space Corporation "The Widowmakers" when I first started playing.
  3. I lost her, or the pieces that was left of her, in booster bay. Except those orange tanks that landed on the launcpad while still full of fuel.. Might be the staging..
  4. That's the spirit! Nothing like launching hundreds of tons of explosive fuel beyond 500 m/s in low atmo!
  5. I performed rocket surgery. I lost the patient..
  6. As you usually need at least one orbit to even get close to it, it's probably impossible. Might be possible to exploit the fact that it's on rails, but I'd say that is cheating.
  7. Thanks man. Feel free to request any more tutorials in the future
  8. I usually try to hit around 30k unless I'm coming in really hot and have some spare fuel left, then I aim for 40k and retro burn like crazy at around 100k
  9. I went with TAC, and I'm loving it so far. Not found any bugs, and it seems all around well balanced.
  10. To add on to the question in the original post, are there any good station parts for generating science yet? Like doing more advanced zero-g experiments and such?
  11. I added RemoteTech, TAC Life Support and Deadly Reentry to make it a bit harder. I found that it balanced it out a bit, since you can't just send a probe anywhere and farm science. And you have to plan a bit more ahead, since just orbiting the sun a few times waiting for an encounter will kill your Kerbals and leave your ship dead in orbit.
  12. I made a quick introduction to the Engineer mod for those who wonder if they should download it or not
  13. Did you install any mods? Looks like something is missing from the GameData folder.
  14. I am a mod junkie, though I usually make the game harder than stock instead of easier. But stock is a lot of fun too. Welcome
  15. I have had great success with sending a new transport stage to the next destination ahead of time, or even just a dockable orange tank with a nuke engine for refueling. Having fuel waiting for you in orbit when you reach a new destination makes a kerbol system tour so much easier. Good luck
  16. Greeting fellow traveler of the kerbol system.
  17. The worst is going for an aerocapture at 10000x warp, and just passing through the atmo and back out from the planets SoI without noticing.. So many kerbals have died of starvation in kerbol orbit.. And yeah, hi, and welcome to the forums
  18. I usually use ion only for long range, multi planet science probes. You can use the nuke for any other mission, really.
  19. I have found this to happen when I don't have exactly 4 or 8 thruster blocks around the center of mass. Seems it calculates something wrong when you try to thrust left, but no thruster block is able to apply force in exactly that direction and it has to do a partial thrust on multiple blocks. Not sure if this is your problem. Do you have a screenshot of the craft in question?
  20. Whenever I do a science spamming mission, I just use 4 or more Communotron 16s, as that seems faster when doing parallel transmissions compared to doing serial transmission with the "faster" antennae.
  21. Very cool little thing. Congratulations on a sweet mission
  22. Including idle time to scan for Kethane and various other waiting? I would estimate around 500 hours. I have around 100 hours on steam, though most of my time was before steam or in a separate modded install..
