  1. Thing's like small batteries can be placed inside of fuselage~ Struts can also be used inside of wings and objects. as long as the strut doesn't pass through an object, it will still work. ;>
  2. Try a small design including a nuclear engine and without drop tanks : D
  3. That thing is just tiny! .. Also... cpt_nosh.. that one has a really nice look to it, can it go further than Kerbin orbit?
  4. I am very happy to finally share the Type 24 Raven R2, The previous version posted earlier tumbled on re-entry... although as you can see here, this revision handles re-entry perfectly... BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.... my poor choice in landing area resulted in ripping off the rear of the craft xD Craft File » http://www./download/bo2wmn7ccoaaqdx/SSTO_Type_24_Raven_R2.craft Action Group 1 - Toggle Air Intakes / Jet Engines. Action Group 2 - Toggle Rocket Engines. Action Group 3 - Toggle Nuclear Engine. Action Group 4 - Eject Lower Bay Cover, allowing you to decouple the probe in the belly. This aircraft will fly on jet engines up to thirty thousand. Bill Survived!!! Most of my Kerbals Die =___=
  5. I noticed since this new update.... flying aircraft is kinda weird... it's like it slips around all the time and never locks in the position you lock it in..
  6. This thread is meant to be a collection of SSTO aircraft for people to share SSTO aircraft... It doesn't matter if it was posted elsewhere. It needs moer powah captain. Try making a small or medium sized one first... Just so you get your head around what you need to do to get into orbit.
  7. For an SSTO, Solid Fuel Boosters that you discard are a big No No.. I know you said quasi ssto.. but still.. try doing it with no Solid Booster Rockets. You are going to need to get your aircraft very high using air, so you will need lots of air intakes to catch that air.. For an aircraft of that size you are going to need at least 6 to 8 Jet Engines... lots of air intakes to keep running those engines at high altitude. Basically what you need to do is build a craft that can fly at around thirty thousand on air that can go to speeds of around 1500m/s to 2000m/s on air.. once your going that speed at 30 thousand, close air intakes to lessen drag, turn off Jet Engines and use Rocket Engines to punch yourself out of atmosphere.
  8. I wasn't going to share it because it wasn't perfect xD It has two ram air intakes on either side which gave me a bit of troubles on the way up, I need to remove them and make some other tweaks.. I might post it in this thread in the next few days when I get a chance to do the tweaks.
  9. Finally~ I have created an SSTO aircraft capable of carrying a probe in it’s belly, then leaving it in orbit, and then flying the aircraft back to the runway!! As you can see in the last screenshot the probe was 5.55 tons. This aircraft took so long to build (゜-゜) Idea for this aircraft was sparked by Exothermos with his very impressive AJAX SSTO found here >> http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/37352-Exo-s-Rubberband-and-Duct-Tape-Emporium-SSTOS-Weird-Space-Ships-and-more!
  10. You can post anything in this thread as long as it's an SSTO Aircraft. Wings do not matter if it got into orbit using only one stage, it is considered an SSTO.
  11. I think you only need to post once Teutooni xD
  12. Here is my attempt at trying to do what you have done... I am trying to balance the weight so as the fuel drains the center of mass stays nearly the same : I All I can say is trying to make an SSTO like yours is hard.. Here is some screenshots of it stripped down so you can see the engine and fuel layout with it's internal storage section~
  13. Trying to make an SSTO that can carry a probe up into orbit in it's belly like yours... my first try resulted in getting to 40 thousand.. run out of fuel, released probe just for the sake of it, re-entry, spun out of control, crashed into ground backwards, cockpit survived.... Jeb is darn lucky lol. xD
  14. if you take a screenshot of your SSTO and post it here.. A screenshot showing the Center of Weight, Center of Lift & Mass in the build hanger.. I'm sure someone will be happy to give you some pointers.
  15. You will need to upload your image to the internet before linking them here... A lot of the people here use http://imgur.com/ I myself use Tumblr.com You cannot link images from your hard dive like you have tried.
  16. pa1983.. that design is a lot better.. with your previous one I was looking at it thinking.. those engines would be better off closer to the body. This new one is a really impressive build. I know others have mentioned this but for the love of Kerbal use Alt+Click. xD Exothermos, that's a nice design.. It's like a flying wing. Keep the SSTO's coming~ This thread has some amazing builds now.
  17. I think you need more Air Intakes (◠‿ ◑)
  18. It was!! It was such a steep learning curve trying to dock two objects together... By the end of it I was like.. mmmmm.. I could have built a better refuel platform xD
  19. I really like the idea of having internal storage like that.. I'm going to try designing something with that..
  20. First Time Docking My SSTO... Actually Took 2 Hours... Not Even Joking... (゜-゜)
  21. Duna *___* I have gone back to a previous failed SSTO design and finally figured out how to balance the fuel so it doesn't become crazy unbalanced as the fuel is used. Now that I have this in Duna Orbit, it doesn't have enough fuel to get back home xD Perhaps I should make a refuel tanker probe and send it out there to refuel and come back to Kerbin?
  22. Adding text explaining what it is we are looking at would be nice.
