I don't think I'll ever get tired of looking at the 8k texture of Kerbin. From 200km, it's the best view in all of KSP.
-
I've hit the edges of mountains on Kerbin waiting for them to open, been splayed all over Laythe peaks too because they opened too late too slow in time.

Does the Community Want Better Aerodynamics?

To be honest, I'd be happy if they fixed the mounting of the landing gear. Right now if you can get off the runway without veering into a flaming ditch, you're 70% of the way into space. -
The only thing I will say for life support is that if they do implement it, there should be a way in which to replenish it. Onboard oxygen/food farm, or something similar. Some of those long trips out to Jool would be incredibly difficult if life support were a finite resource.
-
Okay that is cool, 500m was a death sentence if you came in over the mountains and forgot to put a drogue on.
-
I'd really love to see the finance model implemented. Everything else in the game is servicable at the moment, so I'd really like to see the complete career mode in place before doing the fine tuning to certain systems.

EDIT: Redundant post

Any problems with the RAPIER engine yet?
FlamedSteak replied to ouion's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Although I'm a novice with SSTO's, the thing I've discovered with space planes is to climb at a 90 degree angle to about 10,000m. Then level off so your prograde marker is just above the horizon, then slowly climb up. That being said, I wonder if this is the most effecient way to get into space with a RAPIER. -
Is there a hotkey for pulsing the engine?

What keyboard are you using where the T is next to the Z? -
Like I've always said; if the goal of every mission you do is to unlock the tech tree in the shortest amount of time possible you're kinda missing the point. Afterall you're literally playing career mode for 2 missions and then you're back to sandbox.
-
Finally got an SSTO into orbit....it was the last thing I wanted to do before deleting my 0.22 career.......also Bill died attempting to land.....thus ending my 0.22 career in a glrious fireball.
-
I haven't used it yet, do you need Kerbs to man the lab?
-
Nothing beats the first Mun landing, but the first Duna landing is a close second.
-
Today I ruined my perfect safety record on my 0.22 career. Jebediah was killed after getting into a horrific SSTO re-entry spin.

Damn you landing gear! GO ON STRAIGHT!
FlamedSteak replied to FlamedSteak's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Yeah I found disabling angle snap helps a bit, but the 5 degree increments seems to be my biggest beef. It'd be nice if you could hit the shift key and move in 1 degree increments. It always seems like my desired angle is sitting right in the middle of the 5 degree arc. -
Is it just me or is the hardest thing in this game mounting the damn landing gear? It seems to me that there is that exact spot you need it to be but it will only mount with 3 degrees of camber either side of that sweet spot you're after. So really it's just a matter picking the least objectionable one and getting off the ground as soon as possible before the wobbles set in. Is there some trick that I'm not aware of that everybody else is doing. There is a rare occurance where I'm able to mount them perfectly, but it's like a 1 in 5 chance.

Retract them, no need to shower the public with unnecessary debris. All other debris I consider souvenirs for the Kerbal lucky enough to have it come crashing through his roof.

Does any one NOT spam intakes for SSTOs?
FlamedSteak replied to horndgmium's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I don't clip them, but I'll cram them anywhere they will fit. I don't use a lot of the radials as they seem pretty negligible above 10K and I wonder a lot of the time if they're worth the weight. -
That's actually really freakin useful. The one big thing I hated about SRB's was how much fuel they wasted in lower atmo.
-
Is it just me or does it seems that jets don't suddenly flame out anymore? I put a (non-rapier) space plane into sub orbital this morning and there was a definite drop in thrust (but not a total flame out) before I shut them down and engaged rockets.

What is the least useful non-structural part?
FlamedSteak replied to makinyashikino's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Isn't that improving stability like nose cones now? That being said, I haven't noticed nose cones making much of a difference if any in 0.23. Also mad props on the space bus. -

I hate all those parts.....everytime I tried to build something with the mk3 cockpit it's ended up looking like it's been pieced together with left over bits from a NASA junkyard. -
You may have, as I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a lot of these changed in 0.23

What time exactly will .23 launch on December 17th?
FlamedSteak replied to Rizendell's topic in KSP1 Discussion
In Australia it's been the 17th for 13 hours, if Squad lived here it would probably be out already......just sayin. -

These are also nifty if you need a pinch of additional thrust. Their ISP is terrible though.
