  1. Good to hear. ( Superb control: 2x 4 symmetrical RCS thrusters and Winglets on the back. Now all you need is enough fuel to get to your target .. )
  2. These [ and ] should work, does it switch to something nearby.? Or do you get the error that there is nothing to switch too.? The only reason I can think of that you wouldnt be able to control it, is that there is nothing to control. No probe core / capsule. I thought about no power. But then you would still be able to "View" your missile as though you were in control.
  3. Front section: Long range Tug / Rescue vehicle.
  4. Hi, so I haven't actually gotten any to work as of yet. Nor have I seen any really large functional carrier designs on the forum. So I thought, lets start a thread and show what ive got. So first off, I refuse to use Hyperedit, or any in my eyes really cheaty mods. ( Mechjeb is also out. ) Here is the biggest thing ive tried to launch: Center: 4 large docking rings to attach cargo wing. Cargo wing: Couldn't get these things into proper orbit. So, after quite a lot of tinkering.. I gave up on it. Now im working on this, and yes im very proud of it .. even though it isn't finished yet. Engine section, combined with spacious cargo bay. Middle Fuel section, Quite a lot of fuel space. Connected with 3 heavy docking rings to the engine / cargo bay. And then after a few hours of orbital gymnastics and calling upon the great scott manley to guide me ... Tadaaa ( The 2 outermost docking clamps are locked, the middle was off by a few cm. ) Now, all it needs are: A front section / Duna airship. Then to the 4 large docking rings on the round fuel tank: 2 large kethane mining ships. A bridge / Science / Command section. And a crew section. An amazing amount of fuel, a compliment of rovers / drones. And 2 fully equipped home colony ships tucked in the cargo bay section. Well that should keep me off the street the next 2 weeks. And then finally I will be able to test if the 2 mainsails and or 16 Nuclear engines can push this monster without shaking it apart. Now, I have shown you mine ( and will keep you posted on further developments. ) .. now show me yours.
  5. Thanks Cypher, I take great pride in him .. I must admit im still driving him toward the "colony" .. its actually gonna take me a couple of days. Heh, now to answer your questions .. Im not sure how much it weighs, ( only way to tell is with mechjeb right.? or do math.? I hate math .. I love trial and error though .. This is what got this baby to the moon..
  6. Another day, another weld. For months now Burt's crew had been working on this un-kod-ly construction, he had lost some friends in euhm.. accidents. And had escaped death many times himself. Thinking back the microwaved noodles incident must have been the most pointless, (and messy) And all because that "nutter" had "upgraded" the microwave. The high fatality rating meant that every day new and unexperienced workers joined the labor pool, causing more accidents. He walked out of the cafetaria only to see a very enthousiastic young kerbal being caught by his sleeve to one of the cranes going to the top. no-one seemed to care. Staring up at the construction he had been a part of he wondered if it would ever fly. And then to think that according to the plans, this would only be the fuel carrying core of the new line of "Capital" Class ships. "LOOK OUT BELOW!!", without thinking or looking up all the ground workers moved 2 meters to the left. A girder slammed into the ground, tipped over and crushed 2 workers carrying a modified RCS module. When the sound of the crash ringed out a single sharp voice could be heard: "WHO IS GOING TO PAY FOR THAT RCS MODULE??!!, THAT WAS THE ONLY WORKING PROTOTYPE!!" A particular small kerbal in a white labcoat limped out of the shadow near the overseers office that was suspended near the ceiling. Professor Otto van Kernstrohm glared at the workers on the floor. And was greeted by a sea of terrified little green faces looking up at him. A small chuckle escaped his lips, there was nothing he enjoyed more than scaring the simple folk. Offcourse it wasnt the only working prototype. He had other .. prototype's. "LET THAT BE THE LAST ACCIDENT, WE HAVE GOT A BIG DAY TODAY .. EMPEROR JEBOBILL WILL BE HERE FOR THE LAUNCH THIS AFTERNOON!!" and with that statement the professor limped back towards his labaratories, leaving the shocked workers to "clean" up the mess. This afternoon, that "nutter" has now truly lost it. Okay the construction would be finished this afternoon, but surely they would want to run some tests. Surely if this thing was ever to become the center of the megalithic flagship it was designed to be. Well if all else fails I will make sure the launch supports I have personally designed are in perfect condition and up for the task: They seemed in perfect condition, but just as his inspection was complete Burt heard exited shouting. "THE SYSTEM STARTED ITSELF!!". A cold machine voice filled the assembly building: "KAL3000 system post, all systems starting. Preparing for first round of diagnostics. Life forms detected near core. Please be advised, radiation shielding insufficient. The workers stared up at the ship, most looked puzzled. Some made their way to the radiation shelters, but most of them just stood there looking at the light show now coming from the ship they had been working on for so long. And listened to KAL going through his cycle's "Final warning, All life forms should vacate the area as soon as possible. Quantum struts initiated, structural integrity to 110%. Engine fuel lines opened, first pre engine start test cycle complete. Fuel supply locked in place. Engine group 1 ready, Engine group 2 warming up." Burt looked with growing concern from the shelter, the assembly area was as good as deserted now. Only a few kerbals had remained to receive a lethal dosis. The main entrance was thrown open, he could hear a loud buzzing and static noise making its way to the floor. The irrational fear this caused surprised him. He was completly terrified of what this noise meant. He had heard tales of this noise. It was the lifesupport system the emperor had devised. Small blue static charges began to appear accross all the metal surfaces in the assembly area. And a sleek looking completely jet black metal tube glided across the floor. It stopped just a few meters from the ship. Then after what seemed like an eternity a cracked but strong voice came from the tube. "KAL are you there.?" The system responed: "Yes my emperor, I am here. All systems operational and ready for launch." The tube began to turn, and slowly made its way to the doors. Burt could swear he heard irrational laughing and chuckling in 3 distinct voices coming from the tube. As suddenly as he had come he was gone again, the ship seemed to power down. It was a full 5 minutes before the first workers came out from their respective hiding places. They all looked at the ship with fear. "WE MOVE TO LAUNCH!!" this was the professors voice over the intercom system. Good thought Burt, lets get this thing out of here so we can get back to building something a little more .. well normal. The automated systems kicked in, the launch buildings doors rolled open. The ship was lifted by the tracks and began to move towards the launchpad. Burt in the meantime took his seat in the launchbunker to watch the launch. He could clearly hear the computer voice of KAL running its final diagnostics and planning its trajectory to parking orbit. To think that thing will be flying over our heads for the next few years looking down on us. This caused a tremor of fear to run through little Burt's spine. There was no countdown, no flight crew. The thing just sat there and the next moment all its engines roared at full power. The locking clamps gave way and the ship's core was underway. A slow and lumbering start, but it moved. It appeared to be controlled. And it carried enough fuel to burn a small planet to a crisp. Burt wondered what controlled this ship as none of the operators around him were doing anything except stare at the launch with a terrified expression on their face. The thing was now actually picking up speed. And soon it was removed from view completly. A speaker hummed to life in the control area, causing some of the tech-heads to become a few shades lighter. "This is KAL3000: stable parking orbit achieved at 200KM above surface, awaiting further development. Entering slumber mode" Burt was worried, Proffesor Kerbstrohm was relived and Emperor Jebobill could barely contain his demented enthousiasm for the things to come.
  7. Really love some of the advanced designs in this thread. Here's some of mine I have only got shots of my first station in 0.21, its fairly simple cause I have built it in the first days after its release so only stock parts are used: Hope you like it even though its fairly simple.
  8. Here are 2 of my rovers I actually like: ( Simple model, only stock parts. Too bad, I didn't make a shot from the top. Its actually a Tiny pickup truck, behind the cabin is a docking port jr facing upwards. ) Now this one I am proud of: This baby has a fully functioning Kethane Refinery, 2 heavy drills, 4 side facing cranes locking cargo on the top deck in a docking clamp jr. It can house 16 kerbals. Has a top speed of 15m/s ( controllable ) and I have done over 25 m/s but then steering locks, only thing to do then is smack the brake. Then this baby has 4 poodle engines so its VTOL capable, It has 4 Ion engines facing downwards in an effort to keep traction. And offcourse, deckchairs.
  9. A small gloved hand appeared from a tiny porthole, roughly 150 meters in the air. "Is the thumb up or down.?" was the question that echoed through the air, while I had slammed the huge Red "Go-Go-Go" button only a fraction before. The launchpad exploded into a cascade of smoke, fire and the eye deafening, yes eye deafening roar of the collected engines that ignited and began their short journey into the heavens. Carrying with it, the hopes and dreams of our world. All eyes were now on Jebediah Kerman, proud commander of the mission to save ... well it was pretty important for him to get up there. "The thumb was down wasn't it.?" whispered a couple of technicians behind my back. My huge glasses slid down my nose, as I looked at the trajectory of the just launched spacecraft. And slowly the realization set in that the craft was now on a direct course for Eeloo. The entire mission had been put together to survive for 3 months on MinMus. "Well, Jeb will be allright ... wont he.?" Outside the cleaning crew was allready clearing up the launchpad, still dodging a light rain of docking struts, clamps and the occasional empty booster. -Sorry for the long story, but this is how I feel about Kerbal. I have been playing for quite a while now, have logged +350Hours on Steam. Done most of it allready, but now I feel the need to share. Well that's it for now, time to go home and start-up the engines of Mega-Mun-Rover-One. My latest experiment, a huge rover-base: Housing 16 kerbals, A fully functioning kethane refinery, Multiple cranes and winches, VTOL capability, ION engines to keep me grounded and ..... enough deck chairs to be called a cruise liner.
