  1. Hello. I want to get into building stock ships. So far I've tried crafts powered by jet engines. They work but they are inefficient. I've noticed that if you submerge tail fins they will work as rudders. Can similar logic be applied to propellers? Could a propeller be constructed out of wing parts and such? Is it possible to use stock liquid fuel or electric propellers underwater? If so, what would be the best settings in terms of angle, rpm etc? Do they need to be adjusted for the weight of the craft? I've tried to find tutorials on this but only results that come up relate to airplane propellers. If anyone's researched this subject and has some know-how to share I'd be very grateful. Thank you.
  2. Thank you very much! I had no idea this existed already. I guess I should have looked harder. Anyway, I just tested the three mods and all of them combined provide better VTOL control I could have ever asked for. I can finally enjoy VTOLs! (I hated them before).
  3. Let's face it: VTOLs are tricky to fly in KSP. Even hovering is difficult to do. It's damn near impossible to adjust the throttle exactly right. Most of the time you're either climbing or falling slowly. Going straight is fairly simple, but when you want to stop at a specific point, you're likely to either overdo the breaking or overshoot ...or flip your vehicle completely. So here's an idea: make a mechjeb-style autopilot. It would have to calculate the exact throttle level to make the plane hover. It would have to be able to keep the plane hovering at a specific altitude and also change the altitude automatically when desired by the pilot. And it would have to make the plane go at a specific speed in a straight line and then stop the plane and make it hover in one spot without losing or gaining altitude. I'm not sure if it can be done at all but if it can... pretty please?
  4. Granted, but you don't get to wear the vest. I wish pop music stopped being popular.
  5. Yes, that is all true. Star Wars is a sci-fi series though so let's consider an existence of technology we don't yet possess: anti-gravity. Today's real life spacecraft needs to be put into orbit to stay in space. In other words, it needs to constantly move fast enough not to fall. That's because big celestial bodies such as, say, the Earth, have gravity. But what if we had some kind of a powerful, yet small anti-gravity device that would fit onto a fighter spacecraft and would compensate for every kind of gravity it encounters? That way, orbiting would no longer be necessary because celestial bodies such as stars or planets wouldn't pull the spacecraft down. That means you could point your vehicle up, fly it to space in a straight line and just stay there without moving at all. That also means you could make all the maneuvers you want and it would enable you to fly around more or less as you would through air. Well, kinda... if you picked up speed, you couldn't then just point the nose up and change direction in a matter of seconds (unless, of course, the anti-gravity device had the ability to manipulate gravity in such a way to move it like that) ...And that's pretty much how it was depicted in Star Wars. If you pay attention you will notice that before each spaceship flew into space, it just lifted itself up without any thrusters. That implies that all the ships had some kind of anti-gravity devices on them.
  6. Even if I constructed something like that it would miss the point. My previous space shuttles broke apart because the cargo bays were made of separate firings. For that to work it would have to be only one part. It's the same case with fuel tanks. if you construct your rocket of multiple small tanks it will wobble a lot and may break apart. If you construct it of a single tank that can hold the same amount of fuel, it will be strong and rigid. That's what I need. Only with a cargo bay.
  7. Hi. I just wanted to ask if there's a plugin out there that would allow me to put space shuttle-like cargo bay doors on my rocket/shuttle. The point is, of course to have an easy and rigid cargo bay in which I can deliver cargo to orbit and deploy it there. I built something like this using novapunch pack's firings but they were too weak and tended to wobble and sometimes break apart which is not acceptable. Also I had to open the cargo bay by jettisoning half of the firings which is not realistic at all. I want ones that I can open and close at will.
