1.
A few questions to try to pin down the problem: Is this your first time using CKAN? If not, when were you last able to successfully install mods using it? What version of .net/Mono do you have installed? What operating system are you using?
I found out what the issue was. It turns out that installing 200+ mods in one go with CKAN is not recommended. One mod in particular was causing the program to freeze each time it was downloading. Luckily though, I found out you can sort by cache and I could extract the rest of the mods properly. All is well now.
2.
If you could give us the error it would help us a lot. As for the cache, the zip files are used to install the mods but they don't get deleted, that is the purpose of a cache :P
Yep, sure. "Unhanded exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately. Transaction timeout." This happens every time the mods are finished being downloaded. CKAN freezes and I am a sad person. Everything is ready to be extracted from the downloads folder but CKAN is super stubborn and doesn't want to do it. It's either manually install all of those .zip folders (which is going to take a really long time) or try again until it works (unlikely).
3. When I tick the mods I want to install and go to install them, everything works normally until the final mod is installed. Then I get an error and find out that CKAN has downloaded all the mods to the cache successfully, but nothing is in my Gamedata folder. It does this every. Single. Time. After spending almost an hour checkmarking mods I'm done. Any help? They are all still in my cache waiting to be extracted..
4. I've considered putting it under, but it's simply too wide to fit. I've tried putting it on top, however it's pretty unbalanced and I have no idea how to counter the weight, so that's no good. I've considered putting 2 of them on the sides, but it ends up being way too heavy to go anywhere meanwhile. Any more ideas?
5. Huh? And what does this have to do with KSP?
6. Yes, and the workaround is instead of having to render the craft, just represent it with a tiny dot about the size of minmus. You CANNOT see planets, they are not rendered until you get close. The ordan industries telescope mod shows this.
7. Things like the ISS can be seen from earth, so why not? Of course the whole satellite would not be rendered, but instead seen as a bright white dot, the brightness/size of the dot being determined somehow (presumably part count but smaller stations could still have higher part counts then extremely big ones) Oh right, I forgot, solar panels must be on the craft for this to work. (and being hit by sunlight) Natural Satellites should be seen too! Jool, being the most visible, a bright green pixel. Getting closer would reveal dots (the moons) Eve, a faint purple dot. Duna - "the red dot you can see if you squint really hard" But why? Why should this be implemented? Well, why do we go out stargazing IRL? Just the thought that up there, there are kerbals happily crashing into solar panels. So awesome. This should probably be implemented not now, but sometime after they're "polishing" the game.
8. There's a mod for that, I think it's the LAZOR mod
9. Stares down at shame due to his 350+ current flight count

11. Does anyone find it funny that Gilly has extremely low gravity, while Eve is such a pain to get off of?
