  1. doesn't change the fact that no where on the OP does it say you need more than 1 segments, on top of the scoring system that rewards 1 segment builds. any reasonable person would make 1 segment.
  2. you never said that it had to be more than 1 segment, and your example craft was also 1 segment. In fact, you never even said that it has to be a train. Nobody is cheating here except yourself, making a challenge and refusing to accept valid entries because your rules make no sense.
  3. That's why it's a fail challenge, OP clearly just posted this when looking over old screenshots and didn't think it through.
  4. A: 197t / 1 car/ 4 wheels * 290 Kerbals = 14,202 points B: 10m/s = 10 points C: 1 segment = 10 points Total: 14,222 points
  5. See, obviously he is motivated by something other than providing fun challenges for others.
  6. In that case there were two fuel probes at 430t each, 180t main vehicle, adding up to 1040t
  7. here let me translate: Your challenge is bad because it is stupid easy, all you need to do is sit through the boring as hell 2 hours.
  8. The ones people like, do not involve piloting a slow boring plane for 2 hours, in case you still haven't noticed. They also involve some kind of scoring, and actual challenge.
  9. You mean you made one plane and want to turn it into as many challenges as you can?
  10. what design? Just put enough solar panels + batteries and add wings? zero design choices other than appearance. There is just no challenge, and no design freedom.
  11. using all aerospike is not optimal because it has lower TWR, both weight and thrust will cause you to burn more fuel. You also had non-optimal staging with too many stages, and a huge upper stage. Without FAR you should go for 2 or 3 traditional stages with roughly same dv, or a bunch of asparagus stages each with roughly same dv, and should be able to achieve orbit with 4500m/s, at a 7:1 launch mass ratio.
  12. Mostly KW rocketry for tanks, space shuttle engine for the 3.75m main tank, and aerospike main launch engine. The nuke engine has a different red flame but that's just cosmetic. As for the 2 kerbals switched out, they're still orbiting Eeloo I didn't return them yet, need another launch to do that. I didn't think total mass accounted for the vehicles you dock with? And the crew transfer just to get them into the EVA seats?
  13. mission profile is mostly the same, Moho>Eeloo, but then Jool and Duna flyby before returnning.
  14. can't use this can't use that, must use this, must use that. Why don't you just upload your .craft and say everyone must use your design?
  15. Tried again and got all 6 achievements, with just NTR and chemical rockets. 2x refuel at Moho and Eeloo, 10k dv each, and about 25k dv for all the transfers. Didn't really need a crew transfer but it'll be easier than building a car with huge tall latter or attempt to navigate the inside of the aero shell on EVA. The fuel probes are actually a lot heavier than the craft itself. 430t refuel probe launch 180t main vehicle with lander 32t crew launch
  16. Yeah 2m/s faster, so exciting. Infini glide so legit.
  17. the VASMIR is quite simply a superior ion thruster with higher ISP and higher thrust, like all the other thrusters in the near future pack. I think it would be possible to do the same with ion thrusters, you just have to deal with lower thrust and more solar panel pointing. I am also working on a stock performance run.
  18. I wouldn't bother trying to change a boring pointless broken challenge. Playing the game without help on orbital mechanics is like playing super mario with a broken controller.
  19. Because the achievable speed for the wheel is clearly defined in their configuration file: torqueCurve { key = 0 100 0 0 key = 2.5 70 0 0 key = 30 0 0 0 } It is totally impossible to achieve a speed of over 30m/s on flat ground with the stock wheels, and as you can already see from the entries, the times are so close. On top of a simple and clearly defined steering performance, it's all about boring shortest route cutting. steeringCurve { key = 0 10 key = 10 6 key = 30 2 }
  20. I don't see the point of criticizing my grand tour or even making this challenge when you had to use the map twice and create maneuver node just to escape Kerbin? I could've done that blind folded. Besides, I did do it all on 1x speed.
  21. Mods used : Nova Punch 2 Hakari's magic resource generator Score: Kerbin>Duna>Eve>Dres>Jool>Eeloo>Moho>Kerbin repeated 3x without manuver nodes: 42,000 points Visit every planet : 2000 points Visited celestial body: Kerbin, Kerbol,Duna,Eve,Dres,Jool,Tylo,Eeloo,Moho,Minus: 2000 points Map screen opened once (and never closed), -25 total score = 45,975 points
  22. Using infinite fuel is obviously the best choice because you could then land on every planet and get thousands more points.
  23. Actually I didn't land safely because for some reason the game crashes before the capsule reached ground, I tried twice and they both crashed at about the same altitude. I did have about 800 m/s in that lander so if the game didn't crash I should have more than enough to land. The lander fuel line you could see in one of the screen shots, were not connected to the engine when I undocked it at Moho.
  24. My kerbals came back after 4 years in space. Even with a VASMIR plasma thruster which gave me something like 30k+ dv I barely made it. I might be able to save about 1/3 of that through optimal gravity assist but that's still very difficult to achieve with just NTRs. Main difficulty being the complete pain in the ass that is plotting optimal orbits without a team of physicists helping me out, most of the stuff provided by MechJeb or Protractor don't work with low TWR crafts so you really just have to eye ball a lot of these things, which needless to say, is not very efficient or optimal. Also when dealing with far out planets like Eeloo, floating point precision kicks in and orbits start to shake around, on top of bad and stupid camera angles, just so frustrating. Even had to replace my lander at Moho with Hyperedit because for some reason the fuel lines weren't properly connected and I couldn't start the lander engine. Did no rendezvous with another craft because I don't have any out there, it's a pointless challenge really since you could just send out another probe beforehand to one of the destinations, simple time grind. Aero breaking at duna, and gravity sling by Eve to further reduce orbit on the way back to Kerbin.
