  1. Well get into the game today and WOW did .22 make this game feel different, adding science objectives - career mode, new parts and a tech tree what fun!! So much content in the same period it took to release the .23 update (not sure if the man hours were the same but time-frame wise). So why does .23 feel virtually unchanged? I feel like the only thing that seems new is the science archives which in all honesty come off as pretty much useless to me...Why do I care what experiments I've performed when I have all the parts? Why would I care even if I didn't, for nostalgia's sake? I know where I haven't been based on which celestial bodies have flags on them...so...why do I need this? Spent about 5 minutes in the archives before leaving them and probably will never open it again - there's literally no reason for ever opening that tab ever again. (sorry to dev who spent all that time developing that feature...I saw it once and I was very impressed, great work - but it's useless *sadface*) - a tab with last year's super bowl scores would be just as useful to me Basically I just feel like I'm in 0.22 with a new hybrid engine and a science lab I don't see why I need either...sure the tweaking is nice, but it doesn't feel any different...it's a minor change and makes my ships a bit more capable...woohoo? As a hardcore fan I have been on the edge of my seat waiting for this and once I read the patch notes I was kind of nervous...get in the game this evening and my fears were confirmed I suppose I'll be shelving KSP until 0.24 :*( Please add something cool next patch! Maybe I'll play around with the new hybrid engine a bit...but my SSTO's are already perfect mmeeeeehhh am I being a negative nancy or do you guys feel let down by this patch tooooo? (((
  2. Well I'm really sad then....Idk what the problem is....they just seem so weak - I stripped it down to just the tank, struts, wheels and cockpit, same problem...QQ
  3. Nice! BUT WHAT?! Intakes INTAKES INTAKES! MORE MORE MORE sometimes I use as much as 15 radials and 2 rams, ideally you want a plane that can travel at around 1300m/s @ 23.5km and then activate your rocket engine(s). Using action groups to simultaneously close ALL intakes and shutdown the jet engines while activating your rocket engine will simplify this task exponentially. I only use 1 and 2 to fly, 1 activates my jet engines, and once I'm at the appropriate speed I use 2 to toggle from jets to rocket and close intakes. Pitch way up and off you go!
  4. The secret to making a stable SSTO spaceplane is to turn on the indicators for center of mass and center of lift while constructing. When you are finished, you should have a plane with a center of lift that is inside the center of mass, but just behind it. If that's not clear: The mid point of your center of lift, should be nearly touching the midpoint of your center of mass, but still just behind it. This will create a stable, easy to fly plane every time if you positioned your control surfaces correctly. But even if you haven't, it will still fly perfectly when you're not touching the controls. Keep in mind though, that while you fly you burn fuel, and this will alter your center of mass - so your plane may be a completely different bird that it started once you burn down most of your fuel - take that into account when making your reentry. Typically though the front end will want to be a bit squirrely - your plane can be made more manageable by installing RCS thrusters, necessary thought if you want an SSTO.
  5. Sup KSP fans: I am trying to build something using the largest wheels available. However, no matter how many struts I attach or how slow I go they seem to break and fall off at the slightest hint of a bump...how are they so useless? It says their impact tolerance is like 150 or something so what gives? If you're telling me theyre connected with the same strength as everything else is then that's equally as retarded...4 of those wheels cant even support a single orange tank's mass evenly distributed between them...The smaller ones...they can...how? I cant even drive something with these off the lip of the runway without them breaking off at 2m/s... I'm trying to build something that can refuel my planes on the runway after a long mission. I would use the next wheels down, but I need the height and constructing something throws off the center of gravity too much for it to be practical. Unless the largest wheels get a realistic performance enhancement I guess I'll just never be doing that
  6. The nuclear engine is hands down the most efficient engine for vacuum travel, and one of the worst for atmospheric thrust.
  7. I saw something in the sept 17 newsletter that it was a week off. Been a couple more than that...and it's already a month behind the normal schedule right? I just feel like it's been forever since a patch and I'm getting pretty bored...Devised some seriously complex missions and been to all corners of the solar system... Have I missed an announcement post or something? What's the deal?
  8. Hello all! I have been a HUGE fan of KSP since about June of this year and finally decided to join the forums, from what I've seen thus far it's a pretty cool community. Hope to meet some new faces and have some meaningful discussion.
