I think liquid cooling is a bit much for a first time build, and definitely unnecessary for a KSP build. Also, official 64bit KSP is coming, so he can put in as much RAM as he wants (I recommend 16GB to start)

they should totally not. that would ruin the game [/sarcasm]

You can always tell a new build eminent by:

I can always tell a new build is imminent by the devs saying stuff like ".24 will be here soon!" and experimental builds being out -
Question about ion engine & resource .
Roastduck replied to piggysanTH's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
you'll probably need something like the RealFuels mod -
sweet. i'm done here. Good thread, OP

hope this helps

you did not invest in Squad. you paid for early access. There is a HUGE difference

Good games take time to develop. I don't know what else to tell you. If you want a game that's rushed through development to appease publishers and player demand, go play Warhammer: Age of Reckoning and let us know how that goes for you.

that power supply unit is a bit overpowered for what you need, I think

whereas humans play tag or hide and seek, kerbal children treat getting into and out of space suits as a game -
What will happen if the 1st SLS fails...
Roastduck replied to xenomorph555's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Comparing a failed inaugural SLS launch to Challenger and Columbia is pretty unfair. This SLS launch will be unmanned and essentially a hardware test. When it succeeds, awesome. IF it fails, then they'll learn why and fix it. That's the WHOLE POINT of test flights. Challenger and Columbia, however, were catastrophic losses of life on what should have been routine missions. Of course NASA needed to shut down and investigate, because people died. -
Went to minmus, and for the first time, I didn't have to turn on infinite fuel. Made it back to Kerbin with 141m/s delta-v remaining

Kerbal Stats

I trust Squad enough that if they implement a system, they would do it well (because they have a good reputation, in my opinion ) -

you're asking for, like, technical stuff? how they would code it? I have no idea. I just play games, I don't make them. I guess maybe it would keep track of missions that were on budget/schedule and missions that weren't, compile them into a percentage or score or something, and certain percentage ranges have certain effects on reputation -

kerbal government, private corporations. Same backers that would exist in real life: anyone who needs payload delivered to space. It would affect you in the same ways as real life, as well. Just starting up? Better prove yourself reliable by keeping on budget and on schedule with no failed launches, THEN you'll start getting more frequent and lucrative contracts. Go over budget? We won't trust you with the "real" payloads anymore. Fail a launch? I think we'll explore other options. But on the other hand, if after you have established your program to be reliable and pragmatic, companies could start letting you slide on some things. Delaying a launch? We're sure you had a good reason. Don't want to jeopardize the mission! Go over budget? I guess our initial cost estimates were off. You're the experts, after all! Here's more money. -

Completing missions on time and on budget and getting optimal performance and results would add to reputation. The longer you play with a good reputation, the less you are negatively affected by going over budget or behind schedule, because your backers understand that you're trying to do it right and will get it done -
More use for space stations
Roastduck replied to Clockwork13's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Eh, I think it actually flows with the flavor a little bit. "Oh, we invented this thing. No, it's not because we saw someone else doing it already. Definitely 100% original. Yep." -
The Higgs boson / field
Roastduck replied to jackboy900's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
The implication wasn't that another race could (though they might, and we just haven't discovered them), but that not just as a nation or continent, but as an entire race/civilization, we don't have the capabilities (yet) Also: lol -
More use for space stations

I just use a structural fuselage. Put Clamp-o-trons on it laterally in 4x symmetry, then another clamp-o-tron or a shielded port on top. Same thing available way earlier, just using a few more parts -

also, the fact that some of these are affected by time warp and others seems arbitrary to me. the whole point behind time warp is not having to wait for things to happen naturally. If you have to disable the effects of time warp on a feature to make it balanced, it is inherently unbalanced and shouldn't be implemented -
How re-entry damage should be implemented
Roastduck replied to Moss's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I think there should either be re-entry damage, or no re-entry damage, with no gray area. A difficulty setting turning on certain features would be great, but I think that a save file should either have it on, or have it off. Otherwise, what's the point? The nature of re-entry damage would force you to bring replacement parts and tools, because you can't just re-inflate a tire that has been melted by compression heating. The weight of replacement parts would quickly outstrip the weight of adequate heat shielding -

this could probably be merged with my thread on pretty much the same topic -
If they put that in, they also need to put in an option to disable all cut scenes, because I'd get REAL tired of that cut scene REAL fast. No matter how good it is.

If you're a student, you might want to see if your school is a member of MSDNAA, which provides free Microsoft software to students of member schools. I got Windows 7 for free after my hard drive crashed this way
