The Chunkin' Challenge -- Haul Out your Trebuchets!

Recommended Posts

Are "engine mass drivers" acceptable?

I think the whole "Air" Cannon Division of this challenge is about this kind of device... it says "Use your engines to shoot the payload as far as possible" in the first post.

I'm not sure how to categorize my slingshot, I think it should fit in "tension". The throw itself is not powered assisted, the rockets are used just to create enough tension.

Great video - made me lol a couple of times.

I'd just double-check the distance. There's been some funnies with f3. Have a look at what the distance to the slingshot (in pink) shows on the screen.

Thanks, glad you liked it. You are right about the distance readings, the may be off a bit by the challenge standards, I'll run a couple more tests.

This is some crazy stuff here :o

I've been working on this and come up with a design that works just like the real life ones... kinda... not... sure, fine ok but it looks similar...

ANYWAY, onto the scoring.

Over the Moat: 906 (1.3km if the f3 screen wasn't broken)

Clear the Walls: 540

Environmentalist: 100

------------------------------------------------------------------

Total: 1546 (1940 if you count the other measurement)

I believe this challenge still works in 1.0 probably even better :D.... Do I see a rebirth in this challenge? A new shed of light with tension catapults or just failure.... Time to start building again.

As far as I know, wheels no longer work for stock bearings in 1.0...

One mo, I'm gonna talk to Kasper about something...

You don't have to use wheels for bearings. My "Big Orange" a few posts up just trapped the ends of a Jumbo 64 tank with XL girders, precisely tuned to where its loose enough that the tank can spin freely, but tight enough that it can't bounce enough to break out (that's the idea anyway).

Of course, you never gave me credit for it..... ;)
