EAS-1 External Command Seat will not register as a command part

Recommended Posts

Was making a rover in 1.0.2; nothing fancy, just NearFuture Solar panels, stock wheels, and other stock parts. Put the external command chair on and launched - or tried to. Received a warning that it would not be a controllable craft since it did not have a probe core or command pod. Can anyone help? ;.;

Additional note: I did cancel the launch and went back to SPH. Clicked on the Kerbal tab and just as KSP reported, no part with Kerbal holding capacity.

Yeah, that's by design. You can control it after launch, but you can't put a kerbal into it before. If you want to test a rover, you have to have a capsule nearby with a kerbal in it to get out and man the rover after you "launch" it. I'm pretty sure this is to prevent someone from launching a rocket with a command seat instead of a capsule.

Yup... tried it and you're absolutely right.
