Disappointed with KerbalEDU

Recommended Posts

I was very excited to finally get a copy of KerbalEDU to evaluate for use in schools. That excitement soon faded; for a product that is supposed to be "for the classroom," there is LITTLE in it for the classroom:

* No documentation of any sort; there are a couple EDU functions, with ZERO explanation on how to use them. For an uninitiated teacher, KSP would be daunting.

* No Lesson Plans. This is practically criminal.

* No suggestions for running an after-school club.

* Only 7 missions in the mission library.

Guys, if you are going to make KSP for the classroom, it might be helpful to provide teachers with the resources they NEED to implement KSP in the classroom. At this point, you need a KSP ambassador program; people who know the app, and can help teachers get it running and teach basic functions.

Definitely, at the least there should be a community for the teachers planning to use this (in fact there might be a subforum in here somewhere....)

First of all, thank you for your feedback!

We have taken into account the requests for tutorials and guides for the game itself and how to use the game as an educational tool. We have started working on this and we strive to provide a better experience in the future, especially for teacher who are unfamiliar with KSP and KerbalEdu.

The missions we have submitted to the mission library contain full lesson plans. You can use the "Includes lesson plan" filter to list only those. We had hoped that teachers would share their missions. We know that at the

moment there is not much structured content available, but we have been working on an educational tutorial called Earth History Campaign (EHC). It is still in early development, but we believe that it is something that will be helpful for teachers once it is released.
