Game keeps crashing due to specific parts

I'm starting to have a very strange problem with the Mac version of KSP, one that I haven't had before. I cannot use specific parts in the flight scene. Right now, the troublemaker parts I've isolated are the FASA Apollo capsule (but not other manned FASA parts), and the OMSK Atlas fuel tank (but the Atlas Centaur fuel tank, or other OMSK parts, haven't tested them all). They load at game startup just fine, then can be placed without issue in the editor. When I go to fly any vessel with one of these parts, bad things happen. The black screen with the orbiting planets animation loading animation appears, and the music keeps playing. But after a few seconds, the planets stop orbiting and I lose the ability to switch applications, though I still can move my mouse. Things persist this way until 1. I regain the ability to change applications, though the planets stop orbiting and I'm forced to force quit KSP (which happens with both bad parts, in windowed mode), or 2. which is less likely with the FASA Apollo part but consistent with the OMSK Atlas fuel tank in full screen mode: My computer seems to restart the OS (I think?) I get a white screen for a few seconds, then I see what applications I had open before the crash, though dimmed and behind a loading screen.

Here is the log from the FASA incident, I think. I've included everything after "--- initialising editor mode...---". I don't often report bugs, so if people want or need more information to diagnose, I'd be happy to run a test or find a file to upload. Thanks in advance for trying to help:

At this point, I don't even know what is happening. I tried to fly the OMSK Atlas tank in a clean install to generate a log, and it loaded fine. I mean, there's still a bug here if my computer is crashing so much on KSP, but I don't know how to accurately report it now
