Exploding runways

Hey, So I was testing out some new airplanes on a completely new install of KSP 1.0.4 (My old one was too cluttered up with mods and bugs) and I ran into a frustrating problem. When I try to land on the KSC runway, my planes explode in the air where the runway would be. I tried doing it with stock airplanes to see if it was a design error in my plane.

Leaving the KSC runway, everything works normally.

Returning to the runway, everything is still fine.

Poof! Gone! Any ideas?

It's a known issue but I don't think anyone really knows what is causing it.

My 0.90 install does this occasionally - the logs tell me I've collided with the launch tower when I'm roughly in the spot your plane exploded at.
