How to make Stack Decouples flush with smaller parts?

I have a 2.5m engine mounted to a 3.75 fuel tank.

I apply a 3.75m decoupler just below the engine, but the decouple fairing is only 2.5m. 

I have the tweak scale mod, but still cant change the fairing. I can change the size of the engine and that solves the aesthetics, but changes the dynamics of the TWR and the DeltaV

Any suggestions?

You could disable the engine fairing, switch to a 2.5m decoupler, and add another 3.75m fairing underneath it. Fairing segments will attach to the underside or bottom edge of cylindrical rocket parts just fine, although the cursor behavior while building them is a little finicky.

I don't know anything about tweak scale, but this is the only way I can think of to get a flush fairing over an undersized engine using stock parts.

You can place a fairing below the decoupler and treat it as an interstage fairing.  You would also want to disable the shroud on the engine as that would be redundant.

You're seeing a problem with Stock. There's an open bug concerning it in 1.2 http://bugs.kerbalspaceprogram.com/issues/12235

this isn't new though and I haven't seen anything about it being fixed.
