Its kinda the same effect as a baby gets. I have a really early childhood memory of having a nightmare about my dad getting shot and killed by a biplane, then i woke up and saw him sleeping, i thought he was dead!

Cthulu might be dead on the 3 dimensional outside, but, given that he actually is multidimensional, who knows where his tentacles reaches in dimensions unperceiveable by man?
