Droping Framerate after longer missions

Recommended Posts

I've got a problem with my framerate in my 1.2.2 mod install (73 mods).

If I launch a rocket everything is good, but after e.g. 3 days in low earth orbit (SSRSS) , either in flight or from the tracking station, my fps are dropping to the half or more.

The longer the missions are, the less fps I get. My Moon Base is up there since 400 days and the fps are at 12 frames and it's getting lower.

Thanks for help:wink:

The following is referring to a situation where the problem is with sessions of gaming.

The game collects garbage on every frame, so the longer the session is lasting, the slower your game get's. Especially with low ram and low end cpu's.

Also, if you're playing on a laptop or bad cooled pc, the framerate drop can also be caused due heat. An standard cpu of a laptop doesn't go over 80degree celcius, but will perform less when it has a temp of 80degree and is already cooling at it's maximum.

If you have frame drops when you put a base on the mun, play a bit, close the whole game, start it up next day and the framedrops remain from the first seconds ; it would be a good idea to upload some logs here so the real geeks here can look into it, it could be that a mod is spamming the log with a lot of garbage for instance.

Hmm, I would say my PC is pretty bad cooled with 75°C at full work

With RAM i shouldn't have Problems, I'm at 5GB/8GB and there is space left for more, but my CPU is at 40% when I play KSP, so it seems it's not using all of it's "power"

Game restart's doesn't help either, my framerate is low on an 22 Part base after some restarts

I had some problems with garbage before, but solved it (was an EVE+Scatterer bug)

A question for the logs: where I can find them? In the logs folder of KSP there is only one Kopernicus folder

Your CPU can be at 40%, but that's the average of all the cores I assume? Most games only use 1 or 2 cores full. That's because it needs to calculate everything in one line. It's like you have one long formula of factors, you can only use one calculator for it, could use more, but thats not really efficient, since the next calculator has to wait on the current.

The location of the logs and reports are listed here: :)
