I use the phrase “the difference between screwing around and science is writing it down” pretty regularly at work. Testing can certainly be tedious but it can also be rewarding and fun. Most importantly, professionally, it’s for a purpose and if you do a poor job collecting data, it’s just a waste of time and money.
