rovers acting very strange

Recommended Posts

In the last couple of weeks, if I use a rovemate as the base for my rovers, I've noticed that if I use W to accelerate forward, my rovers nosedive and try to roll over forward, and when I brake, they roll backwards. I'm NOT talking about the wheels rolling in the right direction, I'm talking about the whole rover! Has anyone else seen this?

This sounds very much like the reaction wheel tipping the craft -- if by brake you mean press the key/control that you also use to back up.
In the default keybinding, keys W and S that make the rover wheels go forward and back also control pitch up and pitch down, respectively.

If that is the cause for what you don't like, you can

1) go into Settings:Input:Vessel and make secondary keybindings for Steer Left, Right, Forward, Back (most of us use J L I K)

2) disable the reaction wheel in the Rovemate with right-click Toggle Torque.
(You might prefer that in general.  I find flying without reaction wheels more fun, and use them only for small things like satellites.)

I tried changing many things, like the toggle torque, and using the same keys I would use for translation controls...none of that works. I know it is somehow tied to the reaction wheels...
