Diameter of mk2 parts - RO compatibility

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I'm trying to make a variety of MK2 parts fully RO compatible (starting with mk2 expansion part pack).

I've found out I can calculate the rescalefactor value if I know the dimensions/diameter of a part. This is dandy except for mk2 parts lol.

I've downloaded blender and the MU addon required to view a part in blender. Now i thought i'd be clever - spoiler alert, i'm not - and apply some pythagoras to the x and y dimensions of a part. Obviously this leads to a much larger diameter than it truly is but in the case of these mk2x parts, they are also not 1.25m scale.

Through trial and error I know the value of rescalefactor should be a bit more than 1.7025....

Can someone give me a math lesson or just tell me what to look for lol?

Thank you!

Edit: it's 1.722222, i found the values used for stock parts!

I'm aware of the issues rescalefactor might cause, i'm not gonna extract the values to adjust the nodes for each part so I can properly adjust them. Instead i'm considering adding empty game objects so I can use that method to fix attachment nodes instead.
