The math behind lander legs impact resistance

Recommended Posts

How does one find the number of legs needed for a safe landing? Description says bigger ships should reduce speed, so for a 1 ton ship, the value given in the item description applies, like 12 m/s for the lt-2, but for a 2, 3 or 20-ton lander, I'm not sure how to run the math

More legs and/or less speed at landing?

Are we talking stock parts? I got Nova Punch. I use the largest unfoldable legs for my big landers. So far they've been indestructible. I wouldn't hit the ground any faster then 2m/s though. Even that's a bit quick.
