Who should the next Doctor be?

Seeing as Matt Smith is leaving Doctor who, I would like to see who people think should be next doctor. Please respect each others' (serious) suggestions, and don't flame.

I would have to say I would like to see either Brian Blessed, but he is too old, but any lines read by him would be amazing. 9 He should have played Robert Baratheon in game of Thrones), Martin Freeman, From Sherlock (Best. TV. Series. Ever.), the Hobbit and a HitchHikers guide to the Galaxy. Or possibly even Benedict Cumberbatch Who is the best actor in the universe.

I'd like to see the return of an older guy as the Doctor, as a sort of "your crazy, old, slightly demented, grandfather" personality

I don't if any of you have seen the Sarah Jane adventures? That was a spinoff of the series, where villains went to die.

I mean, they repainted the slythereen orange and called them the blatheen.

A female Doctor could be interesting, but I'd rather see what they intend to do with Doctor Hurt first. Besides, I doubt I'd feel comfortable with a female Doctor. Fellow's always been male, and it'd just be a creepy thing to adjust to.

Indeed, it would all be highly predictable, and I frankly don't think it would be a good move for the franchise in the long run.

In the short term, it could work, though.

Actually, if I remember correctly, when Matt Smith became the doctor, the first few things things he checked after finishing regeneration was "Humanoid. OK. Hands. OK. Adam's apple. OK." I think the next thing he checked was hair color, and was disappointed that he still wasn't a redhead. I don't remember the exact words he used.
