Does anyone know any good mods with solid docking ports or have a design for a solid docking connection. I'm trying to build my first multipart ship.

try this mod. This is how I dock my ships. I hope to someday not have to use it is extremely helpful. There is also a video on how to use it so pay attention

If you're worried about the ports wobbling, check the Quantum Struts mod. I put 4 of them around each docking port and leave them enabled so as soon as i dock with something, those engage and lock the connection tight. Reduces the wobbling to practically nothing. They do use a tiny bit of electricity to create and maintain the connection, so make sure you have at least a solar panel or generator on your ship.

I don't know if it's in your size range for your rocket, but i've found the docking port senior works really well for a strong connection. Alternatively, having multiple ports is also very advantageous - using a bi/tri-coupler design to lock together, for example.

Otherwise, quantum struts is a quick and easy fix.
