What did you name your first rocket?

Recommended Posts

Well I just checked my persistence file and it tells me:

ReachedSpace
{
completed = 994.199999999387
vessel
{
name = Suborbital Rocket
flag = Squad/Flags/rings
}
crew
{
crews = 0
}
}

So, it must have been called Suborbital Rocket. If I recall correctly, it actually got into orbit.

Most Of them were called "untitled space craft"

In fact, many of my creations with a single, one of purpose have been called that...

In seriousness, the first one I named was QAWS or something like that. I don't know what it stands for, you'll have to ask my Kerbals. (I button mashed.)

The first career rocket was a sub orbital of four fuel cans, capsule, antenna, parachute, LV-30 called Little Kerbal One

Little Kerbal Three had a cluster of three SRBs that blew up shortly after launch from overheating.

Untitled Space Craft

This was mine, as well.

I was shocked and surprised -- even surprised and shocked -- to launch career mode for the first time and discover, much to my chagrin, that I didn't have stage separators at all. I was so off-balance -- I don't think I've ever built a rocket without at least one stage separation before!! -- that after cobbling something together I didn't think to name or save it before hitting the launch button.

I was doubly shocked and surprised -- but not surprised and shocked -- that that thing actually managed to not only reach space, but to hit over 120 Km apo! Of course I was only shooting straight up, just to see how high I could get (and hoping to do some outer space SCIENCE!), and didn't even try to get an orbit, but it was still a rather impressive showing for the historic Untitled Space Craft.

Whose design has now been lost to time, sadly. Oh well, I have stack separators now, and a new line of LKO launch vehicles dubbed Prometheus, for no reason other than that's the first cool name that came to mind. Will have to come up with something else for my first Munar fly-by, but first the Prometheus line is due for the addition of a more robust lifter that can better achieve stable -- and higher -- orbits.

My first successfull rocket was named Orbiter 1. Very original, right?

Anyway, the series of Orbiter rockets were highly successfull, and the first moonrocket to land on the mun was built on the same principle, though it was called Sunrise V (5).

Heh, I've used that principle from 0.17. I haven't changed it one bit.
