optimum eve ascent path

hello everybody,

I've got my eve lander ready to go. but I want to know what is the best way to get into an orbit with eve. my lander already has 12764 km/s delta V. but I want to know what the most efficient way is to an orbit around eve.

Assuming stock aerodynamics, I've found it reasonably efficient to climb straight up until you hit 30km or so, then a gradual gravity turn to the east.

Got a pic of your ship? 12.7km/s of dV is difficult to achieve, I'd love to see how you did it.

I know you asked about reaching orbit around Eve. However, if you are really just trying to get back to Kerbin, here's another suggestion- Wait until you are facing Eve-prograde, and burn straight up, don't bother with trying to get an orbit at all. I've started doing this on interplanetary launches from Kerbin, and find it effective and efficient.

Disclaimer- I've never attempted an Eve ascent. And again I realize your original question was about reaching Eve orbit.

it is not asparagus staged. I have tested it and it works flawless on kerbin. and according to the stats it should probably work on eve.

BTW flight engineer is the only mod in this save.

Have you tried test landing it yet? Looks like it might break up on touchdown, though I have to admit my mind hasn't fully adjusted to the stronger joints in 0.23.5.

I think I could get off Eve with a rocket under 10 tons. Carrying a small capsule as well.

How much does that monstrosity weigh? Also, you don't need all those chutes. Eve's thick atmosphere will slow you down quite a bit even without the chutes. You could probably get away with using 1/3 to 1/2 of what you have on there now.

Ah I didn't know there was a challenge going on. I shall see if I can cook up something. There is a way to get small rockets off Eve from sea level but I'm sure some people will consider it a bit cheaty.
