Speed Challenge [STOCK]

This challenge is simple. Try to go as fast as possible, within the atmosphere. Screenshots for proof.

RULES:

Stay under 65km.

No airhogging (I'll say only 2 intakes per engine)

You can use rockets, but this gives you a disadvantage as your craft will be heavier.

Any size craft, but it must be manned.

No debug menu cheats, except for part clipping.

Must give a screenshot for proof of speed.

And lastly, HAVE FUN!

Speeds:

ihtoit: 6799 m/s

nicky4096 :5656 m/s

worir4: 1612 m/s

Scoreboard:

1.) ihtoit! Awarded 10/10 points for ludicrous speed

2.) nicky4096! Awarded 9.5/10 points for interesting design, plus speed.

3.) worir4! Awarded 7/10 points for kerbals that can face the heat of the burning atmosphere, plus an ok speed.

so i do not count, went over 65 km. will retry later

well, i re-tried and got a decent speed of 1971 m/s. i am FAR from the limit though, i still have to add more fuel for the mainsail (yay for droptanks!), add more jet engines, etc.

only mod used is time control, to make things run closer to real time. shouldnt affect flight, but if you *really* want, i can re-do in a clean install.

5656 m/s. while doing it, i discovered the most epic thing in ksp: you can get reentry flames at 40 km! if you go fast enough.

i also accidentaly put myself on an escape trajectory... but i ended the flight before going over even 50 km

ok, went for a 6-engined behemoth (with about 100 fuel between them, and 12 intakes), hit Kerbolar escape before I hit 50km, went for a screenshot and ksp had the weirdest bitvomit ever.

Yep. Sscreenshots of a non-entry that I think should qualify for a Gatecrasher Award since I did manage over 4 miles a second IN ATMOSPHERE!

Basically, stock cockpit, stock LFO tank, stock wings, MechJeb for info, and my 320kN nuclear engine thanks to Luvodicus and his incredible foresight in building a version agnostic part! This is the plane at 20km already burning over a mile a second, I'm having to pitch DOWN by 5 degrees at this point to try and keep it from pitching straight up!

Just in case you can't see that, the odometer does in fact read 6799.5m/s, at 60km altitude, and that's surface speed not orbital velocity.

The final resting place for the spaceplane is a rescue orbit around Kerbol of 3.4Gmx23.4Gm. There is fuel left but no power so I can't orient the thing.

not that im complaining, im happy to beat 6 km/s, but the challenge says stock, and ihtoit used a modded nuke engine.

ill see if i can beat it in stock anyway

So...

I decided to take the challenge, and I eventually came out with this:

If you look closely, that IS 2 intakes per engine. I pwomise.

But at he time the game was lagging really hard, I pressed space, and the space Kraken Let all Hail upon me, and before I knew it:

This is what happens, and I'm somewhat proud. this speed WAS GAINED IN THE ATMOSPHERE but it quickly excellerated out. It was also spinning insanely fast. Also notice Kirrim Kerman from Danny2462, yay!

BUT I DID IT. I DONT CARE!

but I'm not sure this counts, if it does, please put it on the leaderboard.
