He was bravely taking on the first manned mission to achieve a stable LKO. He managed to successfully establish an orbit at around 80.000 km. Using his onboard devices, he was able to send large amounts of EVA reports to KSC. Using the rest of his fuel, he did a retrograde burn which led his vessel to a trajectory ending in kerbal ocean waters. Unfortunatelly, the deployed parachute, even though fired at the altitude of 20.000km was apparently not enough to slow down the capsule enough. It crashed into the ocean with the force of a thousand suns (around 10m/s). The capsule blew up, the emergency teams where not able to recover any leftovers. On the bright side, there have been no reports of a dead kerbonaut washed ashore on any of the observed continents. Being an old lone wolve, who knows? This legend of a kerbonaut might have been able to survive somehow. I guess we'll find out in time ... he might just show up at the KSC kerbonaut recruitment facility once he makes his way back to the KSC ...
