  1. Any idea when Remote Tech will be supported in .90? I really love it in .25 and would love to be able to use it in .90.
  2. Had a similar problem a few weeks ago. What I did was build a ship with basically a giant "claw" to grab the ship that was afloat and pull it back to Kerbin. Loaded it with parachutes and took re-entry slowly and it got down easy. The claw ship was actually 2 ships that disconnected to open the "claw" and re-docked to close it. Each ship had 4 nails (not sure what to call it, 3am here) to total an 8 part claw built out of massive amounts of girders to secure the "cargo". Infernal robotics made it really easy as I could use hinges to tighten the claw. Biggest challenge was the cargo shifting as I came down.
  3. From looking at your pictures, you're trying to haul too much fuel into orbit with you. Your payload doesn't look too heavy. Try shortening your rocket by having most of your thrust lower in the rocket. To get my comsat system into a geo-sync orbit, my setup was pretty simple and I only used LV-T45 engines with a modded LFO tank that's equal to about 3 FL-T800 tanks. My footprint was about 29 LV-T45s with varying amounts of tank stack sizes. All in all, the bottom stage was about the width of 11 LV-45 tanks while the top was kept in the diameter of one. Use onion or asparagus staging to get the most dV out of your rocket. Maybe even shorten your mid and upper stages. Each stage should be shorter than that last, generally speaking. EDIT: side note, I wouldn't use boosters on any other stage beside the first one.
  4. What tonage are we talking about? If you have radial decouplers, almost anything is possible. Also consider using a mod to find your terminal velocity and stay under that during accent. I recommend engineering redux or, even better, FAR.
  5. Most of my designs are unimaginative and overly compensated like having too much electrical power on a simple coms sat.
  6. "Excuse me sir, would you like to buy some kerbal scout cookies?"
  7. Hey guys, new forum member here. Gotta say I love KSP. First got it when .19 came out, a friend gave me a copy and I've been hooked ever sense. First started and ended up blowing things up right away. Found out about the debug menu and dabbled a bit in infinite fuel and such. Now that I understand the game better, I'm able to perform many different activities without cheating or using any auto-pilot mods. I do love to mod and use mods to simulate realism in the game such as SerCom, FAR and Deadly Re-entry. I like working under the general designation UKF, United Kerbal Federation. And I may have a bad habit of over-naming my ships with mission designations such as my Munnar lander series of missions, designated Cascade. I have about 15 total ship designs used in over 45 missions. And yes, I do sub-designate (Cascade 15D the last ship I've put on the Mun). So yeah, Just wanted to say hi and hope to get to know a lot of you.
  8. Don't forget the solar panels. Sucks getting to the Mun then realize in out of power because I forgot the solar panels.
  9. I had a similar problem at a fairly early part of the career. Not enough thrust to get to the Mun. As Dave pointed out, over half the dV is just getting off the ground and into orbit. Therefore, most of your power should be in the early stages. I uses a semi-onion-staging rocket. Onion-stage rockets "shed" layers of propulsion systems over time. In this case, tanks and engines. Most of the thrust is in the early stages to maximize dV early in the launch and the empty tanks and engines weight is shed over time add up to less weight you have to haul into orbit. Parachutes on all 4 tanks on final stage with one top-mounted and 2 radial chutes on the command module. Tanks and engines are all modded but the concept works with stock parts. This design is one is used to get into a Munar orbit. Still designing and testing a lander model. I don't have access to fuel lines yet so asparagus-staging isn't an option for me yet. Side note. I am a big fan of asparagus-staging but I still believe that onion-staging has it's uses.
