  1. I'm more concerned about the toxicity of all that unburnt hydrocarbons they are exhausting.
  2. It catches all of the PhysicsSignificance = 1 however the parts that it does not catch are physicless due to other reasons that cannot be edited via the configs.
  3. A simple module manager config that changes most parts so that they have physics (mass and drag) enabled. It does not affect Small gear bay, EAS-4 Strut Connector or FTX-2 External Fuel Duct as these parts are physicless as a result of part type instead of the Physics significance flag. This mod thus stops exploits resulting from the use of physicless parts such as using the OMS engine to generate TWRs above what should be possible. It also stops certain Kraken attacks resulting from Physicless rovers etc. However has a significant performance hit while using lots of physicless parts. Curse download: http://kerbal.curseforge.com/ksp-mods/222853-add-physics Source: @PART[*]:HAS[#PhysicsSignificance[1]] { @PhysicsSignificance=0 } Needs module manager by Sarbian to work
  4. It looks rather like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fulton_surface-to-air_recovery_system but in reverse.
  5. I certainly wouldn't work for a manned mission. If we assume a initial lateral velocity of 1700 m/s the moons orbital velocity and a cable system generating a constant deceleration limited to 3g for the crews sake the resulting distance needed to decelerate is 48Km and 48 Km is a lot of rock to clear and a lot of cable to unspool.
  6. I've always viewed the desire to learn and explore as fundamental and vital characteristics of human nature. I have become some what disheartened with this idea as a result of the lack of progress being made especially in space exploration. But seeing all the enthusiasm on the community to go out there, do cools things and push the envelope has restored my faith. I thank you.
  7. We probably need to discuss where in the world we are going to do this from as then people can reasonably say what support they can give.
  8. Whole new mission goal inspired by the original inspiration for KSP. We have a cube sat with 5 Jeb Kerbin figures, each with an Estes motor attached. We get a lift into a polar orbit. We fire the Estes motors of so that a Jeb kerbin figure burns up over each of the 7 continents.
  9. As the final nail in the Phobos mission, we would have a massive problem finding a carer who is launching into GTO at the correct earth mars phase angle, and a the correct time such that we get a lunar intercept. Thinking about it this way we need a launch that launches within a couple of hours of when we want and no more than a few days either side of when we want. I think as cube sat we won't get this.
  10. i love the kerbal nature of Pulse propuslsion and think it certainly would get people interested, however the launch career would never allow us to launch it
  11. I think the biggest problem with this mission profile is finding a carer who is launching into GTO at the correct earth mars phase anlge, and a the correct time such that we get a lunar intercept. Thinking about it this way we need a launch that launches within a couple of hours of when we want and no more than a few days either side of when we want. I think as cube sat we won't get this.
  12. Non nuclear pulse propulsion, is a terrible idea as it would have low isp compared to chemical rockets, however it would satisfy our criteria for doing something wacky
  13. I'm sorry if i offended you PakledHostage, i feel that cutting the quote did not change the apparent message or intention of you post and did so in order to reduce the size of the post and thus view it as justified.
  14. I deleted that last sentence as i thought it was axillary to the point i was making. I agree with that point but also view that if any community has the talent or the ability for hard work it is ours.
