  1. My Tanks Dont show Food, Oxygen, or Water....Making life very hard for missions to the Mun...Can anyone help I am running v9 pre#4 I have Ioncross installed...is that affecting it?
  2. I like this Idea, using different company branded parts giving different perks. The only issue I can see if that revert to hanger button being exploited to avoid reliability issues costing a mission extra cash. But I like the more power, less heat, better ISP, at higher cost or additional research or something...
  3. Counting Space Beans Bean Counters Rule Space Jeb and the Beanstalk.
  4. New Parts!! Spent 10 minutes putting this together and it went to the Mun and Back! Will work on it later Also see Steam Screenshots for my Space Station which was made from 100% reusable Rockets http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197980444911/screenshots/?appid=220200#scrollTop=0
  5. The European Space Agency is asking people to choose a name for British astronaut Tim Peake's next mission. Citizens and residents of all the Agency's member nations are eligible to enter the competition. The winning entry needs to be short and snappy and will be the official mission name and incorporated into the logo. Major Peake is due to go to the International Space Station towards the end of 2015 and spend six months there carrying out scientific experiments. It is customary for the public to help choose mission names every time a European astronaut goes into orbit. Names that reflect an astronaut's nationality are encouraged, but they should also have a wider European flavour, and be easy to pronounce. Previous mission names have included "Marco Polo" for the Italian Astronaut Roberto Vittori, "Odissia" for Belgian Frank de Winne, and "DELTA Mission" for Dutch astronaut Andre Kuipers' flight to the ISS. DELTA was an acronym for "Dutch Expedition for Life Science, Technology and Atmospheric Research". The aim of the competition, according to Rosita Suenson of the European Space Agency, is to engage the public. "We want people to feel part of Tim's mission," she told BBC News. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-26562918
  6. I will look at using the basic Jets on my more advanced designs but for the Low Tech model I am using what I can find to be the best weight to power ratio. However I do need more speed and I think adjusting my flight path to hit 20* at 15km will give me more. I currently go to 10Km 45* > 15Km 30* > 17.5Km 20* > 20Km+ I Just hold on for dear life... How about a mini challenge? 1 - SSTO (VTOL or Wings) : Unlimited Tech, Max Budget 12,000 (or 12mill if your going by mechjeb) Winner is the person deemed to move the most Payload into 100km Orbit 2 - SSTO (VTOL or Wings) : Limited Tech (The Lowest Wins), Max Budget 15,000 (or 15mill if your going by mechjeb) Winner is the person deemed to move the most Payload into 100km Orbit with the least Tech Tree Unlocks *Payload - the part of a vehicle's load, from which revenue is derived; passengers and cargo. So build it and put weight on top to show off how much it can lift. Air Hogging is allowed but ofc it will really mess up your costings and Stick to STOCK
  7. Nice Doc, (75/149)*100 = 50% payload When do your Jets Flame out? And how many Intakes did you use? I prefer the VTOL SSTO craft to the SSTO Planes due to time, effort, and reliability...but can you do one on a budget and or Tech limits? (please see above)
  8. Just Tried Making my design work with the lowest Tech I could. http://imgur.com/a/hAaXg Not 100% SSTO but 100% resuable...
  9. Using Wikki and in game data I pulled out the parts and put them in Excel. After learning how to Work out the Percentages I realized it was 31.76% not the 47% I came out with the first time. http://www.wikihow.com/images/7/76/Calculate-Mass-Percent-Step-4-Version-2.jpg (times 100) for the Percentage I think its very important to have a good lift ratio and it looks like winged fight gives the best. However lets keep the below points in mind. Lift Ratio Assent Time Cost of Lifter Ease of Use Tech Limitations I'd rather be limited at 30% and have a quick flight time with little complications, lower tech and a lower cost. But each to their own P.S. It be great to see what the costs of comparable space planes are.
  10. Once I followed the flight details the Heavy SSTO lifter worked a dream. - first test with no payload got to 120-130km with a spin out at 29km but recovered at 31km to light the main engine. - second test with 36.4tn payload, no worries all the way to 32km with jets. Swapped to the skipper and completed my burn and orbit with 80 liquid fuel and correlating oxidizer mix. *on a side note I reduced the fuel in the Jet tanks to 90 to save weight and get to 32km with 5.12 fuel to spare!*
  11. Love it, after I got the flight path right I was able to replicate both craft. Even went to the moon for a flyby on my first run with the heavy launcher of 36.2tns. Added some stabilizing fins but apart from that I copied your design entirely. *Thank you Jouni* Next stop landing on the moon and making sure I can land on Kerbin Safely.
  12. Please see my post on the previous page and lets talk about putting our head together on a design. I am stuck at the 4.5tn cargo lift. want to hit 12-18tns, and I think we might be able to do this!
  13. Been Reading the Forums for ages and really wanted to post something. I've been preparing for Career mode and its Costs when they come in, I wanted an SSTO and make it 100% reusable. There is No Part Clipping, No Hidden Parts, No Air Hogging (tho I have used more Air intakes than I'd like too), and 100% stock not even MechJeb. Haven't got names but have creatively named them versions 1 - 2. Jet Assisted V2 - Takes 3 Kerbals to 220km and can dock up with a station at 100km from 220km. Also it Docked up with a Station (Launch is fairly easy, turn at 4km up and cut engines at 22km and go to main Rocket Motor). Jet Assisted V1 - Takes 3 Kerbals to 300km and can dock up with a station at 100km from 220km and Spare fuel for Filling Station. *Not 100% reuseable* (Launch is fairly easy, turn at 4km up and cut engines at 22km and go to main Rocket Motor). Jet Assisted SAT Launcher - Takes Payload of 3.8tns (less than the 3 Kerbals version due to probe command part) (Launch is fairly easy, turn at 4km up and cut engines at 22km and go to main Rocket Motor). Sat Launcher with Payload of 2.8tn And the Cargo in Orbit at 230km Link to my Dropbox below with all my current ship designs in there. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4ggwlw317rrsx5b/CZg3YOw4kO Steam Screenshot folder of my current ships and mistakes http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197980444911/screenshots/?appid=220200
