  1. Heh, it's funny you should mention this because I had built a fairly big refueling station earlier and I needed to give it some meaning. Kethane was the first mod I installed and I literally started fiddling around with it a day or two ago. I prefer building large ships and when I got a contract to test the KR-2L or some engine landed at Dres I figured I'd make a craft for that and Kethane operations at the same time. My designs often contain quite a bit of inefficiency in favor of flexibility so I apologize beforehand http://imgur.com/a/BIFB9 - Meh, don't know how to show this album here otherwise so I'll just link it...
  2. That's cool! What's the max speed you've done (on mün/duna/minmus)? It sure puts my mün bus to shame It's missing a few parts after some rough times. Fastest that thing can do with some gritted teeth is about 20m/s, but those wheels are a liability and tend to break at anything faster than 16m/s if you hit a bump or so. Still managed to do about a 70km round trip with a visit to canyons etc I'll definitely try building something like that once I got the parts though!
  3. Thank you! That helps out immensely. I was thinking of just putting some kind of weight on the key but this way I can at least do other stuff on the computer. I tried landing another rocket in there, but got still 4,5km shy of his current location so that's coming in handy
  4. Actually I tried that, he had less than half of the monoprop left from making it down after that ejection.. Then I tried flying all the way and ended up poofing a few times so I opted to fly a smaller part and sliding down the crater I'm in now. I just noticed the technique you mentioned, but I've already quicksaved with only .42 monoprop left so I guess I'll just try another rocket Thanks for the advice though!
  5. I'm a new player and while I can't really comment on much of this stuff, but I'll ask a few things at the same time. Don't larger tanks have a better fuel to drag ratio, so using them would save fuel while getting out of atmo? The Kerbin soil samples have been a nice extra when I've practiced geosynced orbits or aiming for a landing, that way there has at least been some reward for that stuff which has been welcome. Also when I've done some first mun flybys with a kerbal in a pod it's similarly a good way to finish the mission to aim for a new biome to land at. In the end the gained science is lowish and may help to get some research lines open to make it easier for some people to get further. There are some people who are saying the career mode is too easy, but that would be fairly simple to fix with difficulty levels that adjust the gained science - apparently there are already mods for adjusting the gains. P.S. Reaction wheels rock!
  6. Hi! I actually bought the complete KSP game with updates back in the day, played it for a while and then forgot about it. I've rediscovered it now and especially the career mode is really helping out with giving me some goals to do I've been trying to gather science from anywhere while keeping my Kerbals alive, unfortunately Jeb is now Kerbins new satellite (I really gotta rescue him at some point) as a result of a failed EVA with too much acceleration. Bill tried to land on the mun a while later with low fuel, he was intending to get stranded to gather some science to send back so that the guys back home could build a better rocket to fetch him back. Unfortunately there wasn't enough fuel for the landing and bill heroically ejected the pod and used his jetpack to safely land on the mun while his ship crashed on the surface. Bob then took the same rocket model and actually made it to minmus and back, greatly boosting the kerbals research. It was time to send a stayputnik controlled rescue vessel to mun to finish what Bill started! Unfortunately (yet again! ) I overshot Bills "drop zone" and now he has a bit of a hike ahead of him.. I really get the feeling I should go for another rescue attempt. Anyhow here are the pictures of his predicament, I hope you enjoy! Overview of the situation Too many steps for a kerbal The awaiting rescue ship. It SHOULD have enough fuel to get out of there. I forgot to mention but it actually tumbled on landing. Luckily I was able to rock it around in such a manner that I managed to turn it up with the help of some RCS It's more fun when things don't go exactly like in the movies..
