    I think it's just a broken part. It definitely seems like they made it in a hurry and threw it in there, hopefully they'll rebalance it.

    From what I understand, the in game Kerbal model was just a placeholder while they worked on game features, so they didn't add too many details like fingers and noses, but people liked it too much to change it.
