After fulfilling all government provided missions related to space exploration, The KSC had lost it's merit of existence in the harsh economy of today.. after all, No Bucks, no Buck Rodgers Out of desperation, the KSC took some shady government contracts for future aircraft development and testing also known as the Vehicle-Experiment series.. Here is the latest model in testing, the VX-60 The government says they need it to be able to carry heavy modular loads, some fuel tanks that were welded together were used in the testing. They say that the craft will be used to carry heavy weapons, and also heavy(?) troops. The engineers say that the aircraft could eventually be unmanned, letting a machine to control it. It looks familiar, maybe it's just a hunch. -

Thats nice! I've always wanted to try Kerbal mid-air refueling for my aircraft, but it seemed so impossible since the control and altitude(20km I think) limitations.. I did send a tanker aircraft into LKO and used it as a refueling station, but it wasn't as interesting as the mid-air counterpart.. -

Hello good sir! I actually have some of your great designs in my SPH savefile! Including the vectoring thrust f-22, your designs are actually what I base judgement if my aircraft are good or not on gave me some amazing ideas for my aircraft as well! Here's my rendition after trying out your original VTOL F-35 a while back kept the VTOL out for part count and weight reasons.. has an afterburner too! Now I have to check out that V2 of your f 35:D -
[Showcase] Replica Craft thread!
Unknownman replied to Mr. Pseudonym's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Hello! Registered just today and getting used to the show and tell of the KSP forums. (should've done it sooner:) it's great!) Here are some of my replica projects that I skimmed from some screenshots that I had. Sorry for the sequence being all mixed up and all.. I've never used a image posting site like Imgur before:confused: Here are some jets F-104 Starfighter, F-14(sorry I had to do that tower fly-by), Dassault Mirage, and a attempt at a F-16 which came out a little less sleek than I'd like(it easily outperforms most of my jets though! Just look at that mid air stall!) An old F-35 design that got canceled due to budgetary concerns (this one was so secret it was exclusively done at night!) and here is my rendition of a Space-Shuttle "shaped" SSTO launch system! I did try do squeeze in as much of the real aspects of the Space Shuttle itself(angled OMS pods that both thrust through the center of mass independently, accurate rcs ports and such), but later on found a compromise so it would just 'look' like a shuttle.. Forgive me for the inaccuracies. Still in development though! This is the first version in testing, which I got a beautiful munar eclipse shot of while rendezvousing with a mini-mockup Blockade Runner (I do have a full scale ver. but this one is like diet coke for part count lag;. a later, improved NERVA version of the craft. Useful for refueling xenon tanks of Keo-synchronous satellites. I also had a vertically launched, booster & fuel tank version under development that did work somewhat with the same design, but it seemed that the kraken didn't like this idea and always ripped the wings off of my craft when orbiting over the launch site. (to this day I don't know why) All questions and opinions are welcome! -

lol you took my meaning word for word! Not quite what I was trying to convey but.. I like it! How does that piece of kerbal ingenuity hold together in those crazy turns? The airframe(wings mostly) of my aircraft usually rip off when subdued to more Gs than a certain threshold, which I kinda like because it makes the flying more immersive (throttling back for slow speed maneuvers and all) But I have to try this indeed:) -

Wow.. I love the two rear gunners' pod on the Yermolayev:D I'm not sure the kerbal gunners were so pleased though.. -
Cupcake's Dropship Dealership...

Your designs are truly magnificent! I remember seeing some of your videos while searching for SSTO designs, they gave me a whole spectrum of design ideas for my own craft such as merging engines and using intakes more aesthetically. Shame my comp can't handle some of the more larger craft you've built though they were really cool but the part count was just barely too much.. could I request a "light" version for some of your dropships? for some of us um, 'unfortunate' users (more of a suggestion, but something like Carpathia-L ;with smaller part counts:D) great designs nevertheless!! -

All of my replica aircraft have SSTO capability! They all have some sort of high ISP rocket engine mounted which also doubles as an afterburner effect if desired:) I'll browse for more captures of these craft, but they generally reach an apoapsis of 150km with jets and then do a circularization burn with rocket engines. Also, here is my take on the Space Shuttle-style design of SSTO I know the amount of inaccuracy is abysmal, but I just wanted something shuttle-like to be able to reach orbit, deliver crew, and come back! (The design has been modified and upgraded several times long ago, but here are some original screenshots I dug up on my savefile!) It uses 3 turbojets for suborbital injection and then circularizes with a pair of radial rocket engines slanted upwards and outwards sorta like the shuttle OMS pods. These provide consistent thrust through the center of mass with a little help from SAS. It can also de-orbit itself while still facing direct, using the RCS nodes mounted on the front. Since these pics were taken I have renewed the design parameters to be more accurate to the space shuttle (wing profile and such) and also developed a NERVA variant which carries less fuel(will look for pics!). I have also tried my luck with a more accurate booster & external fuel tank launch system which was shut down because of a weird bug where the craft would just self disassemble whenever it orbited above the launch site; but thats a whole other story... Enough said, here are the pics! I remember thinking 'I need to take this!!' as an munar eclipse happened just while I was approaching my mini blockade runner for docking. -
Hello! I'm a first time poster here at the forums, although I've owned and enjoyed KSP for quite a while now. I've also have enjoyed searching the forums for craft that other players have created (some of them are quite amazing as well!). After just browsing for a long time I decided to register to the forums and share some of my own! I was (and still am) a huge fan of aviation, and after maxing out the tech tree, setting up an infrastructure in space, and getting bored of doing crazy things in the VAB (which took some time I tell you), I decided to try some spaceplanes; and ever since thats all I do! Here are some of my (somewhat)replica creations! A take on the f-104 Starfighter, A failed attemt at a F-16(which turned out somewhat too stubby), A Double engine jet somewhere between a SU-27 and a F-14, and a delta wing Dassault Mirage All of the jets are very maneuverable, usually around 8~10 g's (The airframe sometimes rips apart if the craft is pushed too far during high g maneuvers around 12 + gs) I don't use any mods, or the debug part-clipping All of the planes have excess air intakes(mostly hidden but some do stick out), capable of pushing the apoapsis to 150 Km or so on jets alone, they also have a small supply of oxidizer and hidden aerospikes or LV-909s in the main jet engine. Originally intended to replicate afterburner, these also let the planes act as SSTO vehicles. **I acknowledge that "Air Hogging" and using cubic octagonal struts to "Semi-Part clip" components are a controversial matter in KSP, but I just Like to have my planes do things that they really shouldn't be capable of doing, and look relatively similar to it's real life counterpart, and since KSP is a single player game, I don't blame anyone for shunning the fact that I do. To each their own! But who doesn't like the fact of a game where F-14's can pull over 10 gs and also go to SPACE!?** All opinions/criticisms are welcome as long as they don't hurt anybody:sticktongue:. Also please do share your own creations as well! Mods or No Mods, all intricate/amazing/crazy creations of flight are welcome.
