Here is the second part of this story for you guys. We jump ahead about 240 days into the flight to a mid-flight course correction, but things don't seem to go as they should. Chapter Two: Alarms Data Entry #236 We are 236 days into our flight. The mid flight course correction is set to happen in five days. The whole crew has been getting restless, since we haven't fired the engines in about 230 days and Gerry, our engineer, is a little worried. We've had a few alarms early in the flight about radiation leak from engine #3. So far, there has been no evidence of such a leak. Gerry has told me that I shouldn't throttle the engines to 100% during the burn in case the alarms are true. Anyways, that's my update for today. Commander Archibald out. Data Entry #239 Well, the burn didn't go exactly to plan. The leak did turn out to be true. After burning for 30 seconds at 85% thrust, Gerry came on the intercom and told me to throttle back immediately, as engine #3 was about to overheat. I throttled down to 65%, but the heat didn't subdue. We had a good two minutes of panic until the heating went down at 33.5% thrust. The burn took three times longer than scheduled. Gerry is going to go on a risky observation EVA to look at engine #3 tomorrow. If we need to, we can shut it down indefinitely, but we would have to shut down engine #1 as well. That means we’ll only have one half of the thrust we should have for this mission. I really hope this problem can be fixed. Data Entry #241 We could be in some deep crap right now. Engine #3 is pretty much broken, except we can fix it, temporarily. This fix requires parts from one of the radiators along the main hull of the Remebrant. The construction of this vessel only put on enough radiators as it would need. Getting rid of one might cause us to overheat even faster, but at the cost of being more efficient with our thrust. Max, our mission specialist, says we should use the radiator and risk overheating, while Gerry said the repair might not even work, so we should just settle for less thrust. I’m supposed to make an official decision by day 245. This is going to be hard. Commander Archibald out.

Chapter One: A History Lesson My name is Archibald Kerman, and I have been selected to lead an expedition to our old home. The mission is expected to take approximately 20 years. Why are we going back? Well, here's a short history lesson: Hundreds of years have passed since the Kerbal race has left their old home of Kerbin for the better worlds of Duna and Laythe. The massive colonial effort that took place so long ago was lead by The Great Trio, Jebediah, Bill, and Bob. The reason for the evacuation of Kerbin has since been lost to history, but most speculate a Class F asteroid. The Great Trio have long since passed, but are heralded as heroes in colonies around Duna and Laythe. But now we are having trouble at our now current homes. Laythe is expected to fall into Jool within the next 50 years. The terraforming of Duna so long ago has lead to complications nowadays. We need to go home. For the good of Kerbalkind. The motto of the mission: Ex nova saecula redimus ad vetera. From new worlds, we return to the old. The construction of our ship, the Remebrant, began about 10 years ago. Because of the limited resources on Duna, we had to be very conservative of our ores and fuel during its production. All work effort went into the craft, which was assembled in orbit. A module would be built, then sent up to rendezvous to the Remebrant to be attached. Here's a list of the module construction that's taken place over the years. Launch of the Remebrant Crew and Service Module (RCSM) All following modules were docked to this. Launch of the Science and Planet Scanning Module (SPSM). Launch of the Life Support Module (LSM). Launch of the first Solar Truss (ST-I). Launch of the second Solar Truss (ST-II). Launch of the first engineering expedition for maintenance (EngEXP-I) Launch of the cargo bay. Will be used as storage for all exploratory landers. There are four in total. Launch of the first two landers: “Horizons†and “Saviorâ€Â. Launch of the second two landers: “Jebediah†and “Perseveranceâ€Â. Launch of the Engine and Fuel Block (EFB) Launch of the second engineering expedition (EngEXP-II) Launch of the crew ascent ship Now all the crew is on board and is ready to take on this amazing journey. I've been working on my colonization effort towards Duna. I'm using a design of interplanetary tugs to "haul" all the modules of the colonization effort. I'm now down to 57 days till a transfer window and I haven't even completed a 1/4 of what I need to do. This is gonna be fun.

Eh, whatever, it's still got three more. A small manned rocket leaves Kerbin's SOI, and doesn't have the delta-v to return.

Mine came from when I was looking at Orion's belt through my telescope. Is also inspired from NASA's Orion Project. 1500 is just random.

The craft only had to land, it wasn't specified that it should be softly. You find out your Mun base was sucked into the core of the Mun.

Hope you guys enjoy this one as well. There will be many more to come soon. The sound of explosions was heard in the distance. Another failed launch, as it always was. That always happened with a new spacecraft that had only been designed about a day before. The three legends: Jebediah, Bill, and Bob, were already on awesome missions across the solar system. Bill and Bob are on Laythe as the main commanders of the Kethane mining colonies there. Jeb is the pilot of the IceRok GR-5 that is heading to Eeloo, which is still about a year off. We haven’t heard from the craft in a couple days, but we are sure everything is fine. More explosions went off in the distance. I turned my head slightly just in time to see the parachutes of the main capsule deploy. “Thank god for that,†I said, as sometimes, you don’t always see the capsule again. “Ragnar Kerman to the space plane hangar, Ragnar Kerman to the space plane hangar immediately.†said a voice over the intercom. I got up from my seat in the Astronaut Complex and made my way to the transit bus for a short ride to the hangar. My next flight was coming up. “Hey Ragnar! What’s up my dearest friend?†yelled a voice, my friend Archibald, just as I was getting off the bus. “Probably got another flight today, I hope it’s on one of ‘em new Raylux N-Class planes!†I yelled back to him. The Raylux commercial company had just signed a contract with the KSC to start launching their planes as a cheaper way for people to get around. The planes were technically still in the testing phase and, if flown correctly, could travel halfway around Kerbin on one full tank of fuel. And that’s if you have the one with the added cargo bay. Their max altitude is around 20 kilometers and had a max speed of about 1.5 kilometers per second. God, they are lovely planes. “Those are absolutely beautiful things,†he said, agreeing with me,†I hope you get one just the same.†“Thanks,†I commented back,†maybe you’ll get to fly one sometime.†“That would be lovely. Now, I have to go, see ya around!†“ See ya!†I continued walking to the entrance of the space plane complex, I opened the door, walked in, and now I heard another set of explosions in the distance. “Those damn rocket-heads are going to get themselves all killed one day.†I stated under my breath. There was always a bit of tension between both sets of kerbonauts, the “rocket-heads†and the “green wings". However, whenever a kerbal died in an accident, whether it was a plane or rocket pilot, those tensions seemed to diminish for a while, then would come back. The "rocket-heads" were always the daredevils that looked death straight in the face. The "green wings" were always the more timid ones that honestly wanted nothing to due with space. I was one of the "green wings". I made my way through the main lobby of the spaceplane hangar and went up to the secretary at the desk. "Name please." He said in a monotonous manner, like he could be somewhere else doing better things. "Ragnar Kerman, I was just recently called down-" I started to say before I was cut off. "Thank you, you are to report to the third office down on the right in the hallway to your right." Said the secretary. I nodded and turned in that direction. I proceeded down the hallway, now fulling knowing I wasn't flying a Raylux N-Class at all, but a space plane. I was, sadly, going to space.

It’s the Kraken!†“Shhhhh, it will be able to hear your screams.†“Jesus Jeb, how are you not freaking out!†“.........†“Jeb?†“Cause I’ve been through this before.†“What!?†“I’ve survived the Kraken once, but it won’t happen again.†“You said we just have to be quiet and don’t move.†“I’m so sorry….†“Jeb, what are you doing?!†“We either go out one way or another on our long journey through space.†“Don’t, Jeb, please.†“Again, I’m sorry.†“JEB!†*Radio Static* Connection with Lynx Station 3 was lost. Perceived to have no survivors. This was the last radio communication we received from the station.

For being quite a veteran player of this game, I have never gotten into space planes or even bothered to learn about them. However, with the new update with SPP parts, I decided to give it a shot. The Centennial Mun Landings

In this challenge, you have (depending on the difficulty you choose) a certain amount of days to perform 100 Mun landings. Difficulties: Easy: Perform 100 landings in 100 days (one landing attempts limited per day). Medium: Perform 100 landings in 50 days (two landing attempts limited per day). Hard: Perform 100 landings in 25 days (four landings attempts limited per day). Rules: If on easy, must perform only one attempt per day, doing more will void success. If on medium, must perform only two attempts per day, doing more will void success. If on hard, must perform only four attempts per day, doing more will void success. Lander must carry two Kerbals in the larger lander can. Entire rocket, including lander, must use less than 90 parts (applies for all difficulties). Must place one flag to represent each landing. STOCK PARTS ONLY Post replies with a picture of your flags in the tracking station to prove your success and a picture of your rocket with the part count.
