Here is what I did:
1. Name the undockable Docking Ports to find them in the quicksave file (Port1 and Port2 maybe)
I just ran into this bug today and am attempting to fix using your method, but I cannot find an option to rename a specific part like that in-game. I can only rename entire vessels.I solved the problem, or rather found a solution someone else made that worked well.
I used the save file editor posted by Mythos, "KML," found here on the forums:
Once I loaded my quicksave in this editor, it saw the problem automatically and gave a visual warning for it. I was able to double-click the warning, right-click the highlighted attribute, and select the option to fix it. I loaded the save and the problem was indeed fixed. This man deserves a medal.

I sometimes do drop tests with my landers if I'm worried they'll break apart, but since the Launchpad has been made destructible even the softest landing seems to cause a catastrophic explosion.
Is this actually intended?

I put together my first manned Duna Lander, and decided to test it to make sure it wouldn't fall apart upon landing. Testing did not go as expected.

Anyone know why the Launchpad seems to react this way? Seems like it's over-sensitive to me.

I've only done manned missions to the Mun, Minmus and Eeloo. I have sent unmanned rovers to Duna and Ike, put a probe in orbit around Eve and Eeloo, and crashed a flyby probe into a Moho mountain at about 10-12 thousand m/s.

If you're going to bypass the contracts, why not just do a Science mode game?

It does make it more maneuverable, but it also burns through the monopropellant faster the more nozzles you have shooting off. My big fuel deliveries for stations all have a setup like that just to make docking less painfully slow.Does stacking the RCS like that make it more maneuverable? I guess it makes sense that it packs more thrust, it just never occurred to me to do that. -
Landing eleven Kerbals on the Mun, this is what my descent stage had left in it on touchdown.

This editor is a godsend! It fixed my broken docking ports like it was just another day at the office. Thank you, sir!
