  1. The next time I visit my sister, I'm going to install KSP for her kids. She has an Apple computer. I'm not familiar OS-X, and I want to make sure I know what I'm doing by researching the install instructions beforehand. The installation instructions posted on the KSP website are: 1. Download and Save to File 2. Unzip the contents to a directory of your choice 3. Run the game I think I can manage 1 & 2, but how do I "Run the game"? On Windows, you run the game by launching KSP.exe, but that file doesn't exist in the Mac distribution, and there isn't any obvious equivalent. - - - Updated - - - Never mind. I found the answer on the wiki. The equivalent to KSP.exe is apparently KSP.app on OS-X.
  2. Thank you for the advice and references. I understand now.
  3. I have read the wiki entry for the mobile processing lab, but I still don't understand it. I just deployed my first one, and it didn't work the way I expected. Not at all. Here are a couple of specific questions: 1. How much science will be generated over time? The wiki seems clear on the rate, but not the amount. At one point, it states "the lab may be used to perform research, which will consume a small percentage of the processed data every day to produce 5 times its value in science". This suggests that an experiment worth 30 science points would eventually be worth 30+5x30=180 science points if processed fully in a lab. Later, however, the wiki says "An experimental result produces an amount of data based on its own relative value and the location of the lab at the time the data is generated". So, which is it? Does the lab produce 5 times the science value of the processed data, or does it produce an amount somehow dependent on the location of the lab? 2. If I have already extracted science from an observation, how do I get the lab to process an equivalent observation? For instance, suppose I take a surface sample and recover it for 30 science points. If the 5x factor is correct, that means there are still 150 points worth of science to be learned from that same surface sample or an equivalent one. But I can't figure out how to get the lab working on it. Experiments I've already explored without the lab don't seem to give me the "Process Data" option required to run them through the lab. Am I misunderstanding something fundamental here?
  4. Parachutes have two settings -- "Min Pressure" and "Altitude". Can someone please explain the effect of these two settings?
  5. Thanks. I didn't realize you need to open the doors before putting things in.
  6. Many people have reported that they put the goo containment unit inside a service bay. How do you do it? I can get the goo pod to clip to the side of the bay, but I can't get it inside.
  7. What type of animal is shown in the Squad logo? I need to answer that question (or another one) in order to register for the Kerbal Space Program wiki. Apparently, however, the animal is not a "chimpanzee", a "chimp", or an "ape", so I'm stumped. Can anyone help me out here? The other question is "Fill in the blank: How hard is ______ ________, anyway?" An answer to that riddle would also allow me to register. Thanks in advance.
