  1. I have docked a tanker with a small station orbiting Minmus. R&D is level 2. All couplers and docking ports have crossfeed enabled. I have a capsule on top of the tanker that will detach to return my Kerbals and it has a heat shield. Is the heat shield blocking fuel transfer? If so, can I change that? If it matters, I'm playing in Hard mode. Thanks!
  2. I have an un-Kerballed craft most of the way to Jool by itself. The craft has the big antenna to transmit back to kerbin but I targeted the wrong antenna/craft (medium dish) at Kerbin. Can someone explain what to change in the persistent file to change to the correct target? Thanks for your help.
  3. KSP was working fine in spite of all the mods I run. Was working fine and decided to take a break. Exited the game normally but upon restart, when I click resume saved game, the first time is a long pause and then nothing. Repeated clicks after that only briefly change the font color as expected, but nothing else. Any ideas?

So I screwed up and since I hadn't saved recently, I renamed the persistent file to persistentMunBoom and grabbed the most recent KAC ship change file, sorry I've forgotten the proper name, and renamed it to persistent. Something I've successfully done in the past to correct a big boom in the game. Well, this time upon restart I get a message saying there is a corrupt save, do I want to delete it? At first I don't, but the save won't open properly. So foolishly I agree to let it delete the bad without really knowing what it will do. It totally deleted the entire save directory including all files and sub-directories. OMG! Not what I expected and digging around, the directories and files are not in the Recycle Bin where I could rescue them. I get I should have at least made backups even if I was getting cocky about getting better at the game. Any thoughts on if those files can be found, or am I starting over?

  6. An Earth day is 24 hours which is 4 Kerbin days. You are correct that the Kerbin year is 426 Kerbin days, or 106.5 Earth days. For a Kerbin 6 hour day, 360 degrees divided by 426 Kerbin days equals 0.845 degrees per Kerbin day. But for an Earth day of 24 hours, 360 degrees divided by 106.5 equals 3.38 degrees per Earth day. The part I'm trying to sort out is when the first burn occurs. I get the image, but how do I know when I'm there?
  7. Glad to hear that you are still alive and kicking. Real life does get in the way sometimes but it's not all bad. My job in RL is space flight experiments on board the ISS. In particular, CFE, Capillary Flow Experiments has been my baby since it started back in 2003. I can provide you with images and stuff if that helps. The CFE Principal Investigator is also a Co-Investigator on CCF, Capillary Channel Flow, so when I showed him a screen shot of my space station highlighting those experiments, he got excited. I would like to point out that Cool Flames started after CFE already had the acronym, so CFI is Cool Flames Investigation. I'm not sure how much real life should actually transfer into the game, but let me know if there's something I can do.
  8. I expect this will be horribly obvious when someone tells me the answer, but what instrument is used to perform the Temperature Scan as part of the Orbital Survey Contract?
  9. Right click and turn the structure back on. All the US wedges have that as an option in the VAB. EDIT: I looked at my game and it's doing the same thing with existing ships and showing the parts as locked or something. But I did install the new version of DMagic onto 0.24.2 by mistake and don't know if that's it or some other mod. Tomorrow when I have more time to play, I mean investigate.

Lots of stuff, but no orange No experiment warnings. Lots of white notices about DMagic experiments available that I didn't put on the lander though. And one red one that I should have made a screen capture of. Old age has led to CRS!
  12. I'm not using the Crowd Sourced Science Logs and do not use Steam. I found three ScienceDefs.cfg files in the following directories: C:\KSP\Kerbal Space Program 0.24.2 32bit\GameData\DMagic Orbital Science\Resources C:\KSP\Kerbal Space Program 0.24.2 32bit\GameData\Squad\Resources C:\KSP\Kerbal Space Program 0.24.2 32bit\GameData\NASAmission\Resources I changed the name of the DMagic SciencdDefs file and restarted and piut a lander on the launch pad. Same behavior where none of the DMagic stuff in the US wedges work.
  13. I'm having the same problem - looks great, does stuff, but does not bring up the science window for keep or transmit and all that. Returning the vessel also brings back a fat zero. I found the three sciencedefs.cfg files but can only assume they are where they belong. Any other ideas what I have wrong? This would be very slick to use and I'm already late on sending stuff off to Jool. TIA!

  15. Is there a cfg file for Real Chutes to use with CLS? I guess it would just be the stack chute, but right now it isn't passable.
  16. Mechjeb noob here. Is there a walk thru or tutorial or something available for the new version? Some steps outlining how to program a launch and landing would be nice. TIA
  17. Thanks for the help! I'm up and running with all the Space Station mods in 32 bit with my old save. Now to start building it.
  18. Can I move my game save from 64 to 32? I don't want to start over just yet, at least until I'm ready to add mods that make it harder and more realistic.
  19. I am not a coder and do not know how to do a mod though I'm getting curious about them, but I'm not a software engineer so they may be beyond my knowledge base. The Nehemiah Engineering - Orbital Material Science addon for the Station Science mod includes real life experiments. One of them is called Capillary Flow Experiments which I've worked on since 2003. The test geometry is from the principal investigator at Portland State University but the designs are mine. As far as KSP goes, I'm totally digging it and spending way too much time on it. My real life part of the space program is very focused and it's nice to work the big picture in the game. Plus I don't have to worry about NASA or Congress changing their mind and pulling funding. I'm a contractor, have been for 23 years now, and still consider my job permanently temporary. But I still love it and have goten to do a lot of really cool things.
  20. I'm running the 64bit version of 0.24 with only two mods so far, Chatterer and Kerbal Engineer Redux. I really want to install this mod as my real life job is supporting micro-gravity science experiments on board the ISS. There is an add to this one that includes one of my real life experiments but that's another thread. Anyways, if I have KER installed, the game crashes after I've selected the save game to continue. Removing KER does allows this mod to work for me, at least the game doesn't crash, but I really want KER. Any suggestions?
