One reason may be because KSP has to calculate the velocities of each craft

There are plenty of parts for this like the science labs or some kerbal storage units, and there is already a IVA system in place. For a later version it would be nice if you could get up and walk (or float) around in your ship. This means that other than controling your ship's movement from the cockpit, you could send science data from the interior, look out a better window, or even repair your ship.

This challenge is about getting to the moon while in either the orbit map, or IVA… THE ENTIRE TIME. The only IVA I can do right now is in a glider I built. Let me know how it goes For you.

Make sure that you are coming at a >35 degree angle, and make sure your ship is very streamlined. To actually land, put some radial parachutes on that bad boy. Hope that helps
