*THANKS* sal_vager! That was indeed the issue. It would be great if that could somehow get set by the steam client when starting kerbal space program... I am sure I won't be the last non-US person bitten by this.

Hi! I just grabbed a copy of KSP for Linux and so far had no luck whatsoever getting it to do anything. I did get contracts (in fact I got them twice, active contracts are apparently not saved while the money they provide is;-), but whenever I try to build a rocket I can not make any two parts stick together:-/ Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
