The other thing you can do is to set the other satellite as a target and then in the target mode you can burn retro until velocity to the target is 0. that will match the orbital of the target. I have had real good results with this.

Today I saved Maller Kerman after his landing on Minmus for a mission and then realized he had no parachute to bring the science back. He only had 4 days of life support remaining so Mathat spent 2 days trying out space planes and kept failing. Final result was some spare fuel and life support so both of them can probably stop by my space station to drop off the extra fuel. http://i.imgur.com/TyLQCQR.png

I use a probe with a empty capsule attached and just 2 stage it to him cost me about 20k to retrieve him, i also dock with my station and leave my extra fuel and RCS i do not use at the station. probably not as efficient but when i launch with the right timing I get within 5km and just fly him to me.
