  1. Excellent story so far! Jeb gives two boosters up.
  2. Thanks! My IRL friends will be the first to tell you that I can quote a lot of movies, but I'll be darned if I've seen many of them, hehe. Fortunately, "Truman Show" has been one of them
  3. Ramshackle Space Industries is a game session I have designed using KSP 0.23.5, modeled in a similar notion to Scott Manley's two YouTube series' "Reusable Space Program" and "Interstellar Quest". I am not going for a 100% reusable space program , nor am I going for interstellar travel, but I loved the premise that travel to the moons and planets is an every day occurrence for Kerbals to work/play, and I love the more realistic difficulties factored in from the modlist of IQ. Hence, in my game session, I am playing with the following core mods: Ferram Aerospace Remote Tech 2 TAC Life Support Vanguard Parachutes * I was also going to use Deadly Re-Entry, but could not find a 0.23.5-compatible build as I attempted to add it after 0.24 was released. I plan on adding this once all other mods have been updated to the current KSP version To add flavor to the builds, I am using: KW Rocketry B9 Aerospace Kethane Kerbal Attachment Infernal Robotics For planning and performing various mission plans in-game, I am using: Kerbal Engineer MechJeb Enhanced Navball Docking Port Alignment Kerbal Alarm Clock ScanSat Last but not least, to add to the beauty and immersement (is that a word?) factor, I am also using: Environmental Enhancement and Better Atmospheres Chatterer To keep everything running smooth, I am using Active Texture Manager. Now that the preliminaries are out of the way, here's what I have accomplished thus far... ***Oh, and a quick edit: Forgot to mention that I will be playing from a perspective of "no simulations". If the craft launches, it launches. No reverts. Also no quicksaves and quick loads. From a game perspective...yeah, it stinks. But from a story-telling perspective, it adds the chaotic element of surprise. Especially if a craft suddenly explodes in true Kerbal fashion (i.e. no reason whatsoever) --------------------------------- Ramshackle Space Industries has answered the call of the Kerbals who have long gazed up at the heavens and wondered what it would be like to visit these places; to live, work and play in the red fields of the Dunan sand fields; to perfectly float in the thick, hazy oceans of Eve; to attempt the planetary confectionary conversion of Minmus. It has developed the rudimentary elements of space flight and travel thanks to the heroic efforts of founding Kerbonauts Bill, Bob and Jebediah. Now it's time for other recruits to step forward and write their own chapters of history in the book of Kerb. To keep a healthy public image, an emphasis has been placed on developing robotic elements for initial exploration. An array of communication satellites have been launched into low Kerbin orbit, as well as a handful into Synchronous Equatorial Orbit. Now it was time to expand that mission to the Mun...
  4. I believe all first hand studies thus far have been on plant life and possibly microorganisms. Unless you want to count the Russian Space ... Geckos. #GoGetThoseGeckos
  5. I know I don't really want to go the route of warp drive and experimental power systems. RSP didn't feature Ferram, Remote Tech, TAC, and some of the other difficulty-increasing mods, so that's the "interstellar" part of my mod selection.
  6. ...night! My name's Bill, callsign Steppanwolf, and while in the past I've typically joined forums to lurk, I've grown to love this game so much that I foresee myself being fairly active here. I have been playing KSP since version 0.14 or so. I was introduced to the demo back at a state-wide annual LAN party and bought it immediately thereafter. I learned basic strategies watching KurtJMac and later, Scott Manley. Through him I've also followed other YouTube channels that devote some or all of their talents to KSP. My current game is taking an approach that is a kind of mix of Scott's "Interstellar Quest" and "Reusable Space Program" series'. I have a plethora of mods installed (using 0.23.5) for both realism, ease of use, and beautification. I have most all of IQ's mods installed except for Interstellar (sticking to more traditional fuelling methods), Deadly Re-Entry (couldn't find a 0.23.5 compatible download before it updated to 0.24), and some of the chute mods. I also have scansat, chatterer and mechjeb loaded, to help keep it fun as opposed to tedious in the later stages of the game. I haven't been the best at taking screenshots regularly for story telling but so far I have successfully unlocked the first 5 tiers of the career mode tech tree (except for heavy rocketry and the Klaw), and I've set up two comsat relays around Kerbin and the Mun. My next goals will be to put a science lab station around the Mun so I can use it as a lab/goo processing-resetting junction before bringing the research back to KSC, and also putting up an additional comsat network around Minmus, mining for Kethane and setting up a refuelling station for interplanetary transfers. Thanks for listening to my intro and I hope people get a kick out of me sharing my story! Fly safe
