  1. When all three-hundred of your sepratrons simultaneously break off on takeoff. And ignite.
  2. Hey, maybe it would finally give us a good reason to use those giant radiator arrays. (Who could possibly need to disperse that much heat!?)
  3. When I ran it with a rigid "training" frame, the thing flew totally fine, though it didn't like hitting hills too much. That'll probably be even worse once I get it off its trusses and let the pod bounce behind it. I can't get it off that frame though; I always get the pod snagged in it, and it takes a particularly long time to set this thing up. I'll take it to a friend (who's much better with KSP construction than me) and try to find a better alternative. But for everything else, my design is doing exactly what I planned for it to do. It's a bit slow in the corners, but this thing is going to have more control and power than I'll ever need. I swear, if and when I get Big Dog on his leash, I'm gonna put one heckuva time on that scoreboard. EDIT: I messed around with another pod, and actually got a really easy and efficient setup. I'm gonna adapt it for Big Dog tomorrow if I get the chance.
  4. Wow, I severely underestimated just how difficult this was going to be. Just getting the engines to float nicely above the ground has been a challenge, let alone trying to suspend a pod between them. But I'm definitely not giving up; it's a lot of fun, and I have some unique ideas to try and bring to the table. And while all the pods posted so far have a lot of variety, I'm hoping mine will turn a head or two once I get its darn engines running. It's all in the aesthetic. Speaking of engines, has anyone got tips on how to make them get along? Borbalf's video clearly shows him controlling the engines from the pod, while I can't even get the engines to go the same direction. I'm gonna bet it's something to do with the quantum struts since it's the only mod I didn't manage to get to work. Either way, back to mucking around with these rocket chimeras.
  5. If I ever play music during a launch or burn, it's this.
  6. I've got the beginning of a small station around Duna at 55K up, only a few thousand KM above the beginning of the atmosphere. I might get around to launching some planes from it or something.
  7. Both, technically. Minimal parts, minimal size, minimal weight, minimal fuel, etc. It's all fair game.
  8. My (somewhat) bigger probes are purely solar, but one of the smaller models uses four 1x6 panels with two Z-100 batteries strapped on the gaps. (They make a hexagon configuration.) It still has a little life after Kerbol sets and rarely eats any charge at all during space flight, even at full throttle.
  9. Hey Vanamonde! I'll make sure to post some pictures of my lighter ion probes in the thread when I get the chance. Maybe I'll take them out for a photo-shoot around Minmus. Either way, I'm glad you're interested!
  10. Some people find joy in launching colossal rockets and objects into orbit with powerful lifters they've designed. Others find joy in throwing ships at mind-numbing speeds and velocities towards other planets, or even simply around Kerbin. Some others still simply enjoy the creative and artistic side of launching crafts and sightseeing the Kerbol system. I make the tiniest working probes possible and launch as many as possible towards stuff on a single rocket. Nothing makes me happier than docking half-tonne RCS-free satellites above the Minmus, or delivering little Xenon shipments to a noodle-thin refuelling station in low Kerban orbit. If anything does make me happier, it's making things more challenging and intricate. I've got plans to launch a craft to the Mün using only Mono/Xenon fuel and fully intend to start a "company" for these two-tonnes-or-less probes and satellites by the name of "Tiny, Tiny, Tiny Probes". Hopefully I can meet a few more minimalist rocketeers, scientists and kerbonauts here. After all, big things are made up of tiny things, right?
