I am sure that this post is beyond dead, however this information is not 100% true. You can disable the RemoteTech restrictions temporarily (If you get stuck like I did ) Mods are made up of multiple types of files. These include Parts and Plugins (dlls). Just rename the RemoteTech2.dll to RemoteTech2.dll.disabled and the parts will still be valid, but not operational.
