I just learned that if ur on a laptop...One must hold the function key whilst pressing F5 to save. You'll see the message. Then press the function key whilst holding F9! It'll reload your game. To clarify, I never had this problem playing from my desktop computer. It only happened after I started playing on my word issued laptop. Use the "Fn" key NOT ctrl or shift or alt. I know. ..it's lame. But it works for me. Now I can play ksp at work!!!

If you're using a laptop (like i was having this problem with) one must press the "Fn" key whilst holding F5 to save....and then HOLD "Fn + F9" to load! Only had this problem once i started using my new laptop.
