  1. I'm not sure when the published minimum specs were last reviewed, but I've been doing some experimenting today and I think they may be slightly off. I'd be glad to hear from other users though! A quick forum search has pulled up a few threads regarding people having difficulty running 0.25 at minimum specs, and I was one of them. As a refresher, published minimums are:- 2.0GHz Dual Core or higher 4Gb RAM 512Mb Graphics card with shader model 3.0 The remaining specs regarding Windows, free space etc are fairly simple but it's the above three that are highly variable on people's systems. My computer's quick, about the quickest dual core you'd find without spending big money... 3.0GHz Dual Core 4Gb RAM 1Gb Graphics card with shader model 5.0 (GeForce GTX 550) 0.24 ran perfectly, 0.25 crashed before loading. Graphics were set to roughly medium, the only exception was the resolution set to 1280x1024. Today I tried some tweaking and varied a few components to see what I could achieve... the results were interesting. At low graphics, it ran fine. If I increased textures over halfway the game crashed at ship building. I stole a 2Gb ram stick from my wife's computer and upped it to 6Gb. No change. Next, I installed 0.25 on my wife's computer and it ran exactly the same despite having only a 1.86 dual core and a 512Mb graphics card. The processor doesn't therefore seem to affect very much, but still no cigar. If my wife's underscored machine reacted the same as my overspend, it suggested a fairly major upgrade was needed. Lastly, I borrowed a 2Gb graphics card from a friend, analogue rather than DVI, and it ran perfectly on the highest graphics settings. It could be a system flaw, but to me the 512Mb card requirement really needs looking at! Would be good to know if I'm totally off the mark or if others have experienced similar!
  2. Hi all! Huge greetings from Bournemouth on the sunny south coast of the UK! I fell into Kerbal after browsing a list of sim games a few months ago, and with a lot of practice and a huge amount of help from the fantastic Scott Manley vids, I'm now a fairly seasoned Kerbonaut! A computer failure resulted in my save being wiped, so have just started afresh which is actually quite nice as it tests you again without all the add on extras! Love the game, look forward to hearing from you all!
  3. Hi guys, I'm not new to Kerbal but I'm new to the forum. I was running 24.0.549 with no issues at all, the only mod was Mechjeb. I finally got around to upgrading to 25, and now I'm experiencing a lot of problems. I'd like to think it's due to my hardware, but I exceed all minimum requirements. Incidentally, I've wiped Mechjeb, the game itself is "clean" hence it being posted here! So... specs... Processor:- Core2Duo E8400 3Ghz Dual Core Ram:- 4Gb Hard drive:- 1Tb (700Gb free) Vid card:- NVidia GeForce GTX550 Ti 1Gb Monitor (this will be explained):- Xerox digital one with DVI input So. I used to have 24.0.549 set to 1280x1024 as this was the "recommended" Windows res. 1 - First issue with 25, it doesn't get past the loading screen. It just crashes before giving the option to load a game. I used the launcher to change this to 1024x768, and it launched. 2 - When going to build a rocket, on entering the building the screen flashes briefly and then loses all of the outer icons... all of the new/save/launch etc, and even the parts menus. However, the options still come up if you mouse over them. 3 - When building the second part of the rocket (so command pod's there, try adding something else), the game crashes out again. I've tried a reinstall, same result. The other building are fine, I can use the admin building, accept missions, buy science tech etc, it's just getting past the building a rocket part. Apologies if this has been mentioned in another thread, but searching "crashing" brings up more results than I can read! Would really appreciate any advice as at the moment I can't play as I can't "downgrade" back to version 24 again!
