It used to work as you suggest - and it was completely and utterly overpowered - It looks like it now work by comparing the money deducted vs the amount per science point, rounded to the nearest full science point. E.g. Previously: 175,713(-9248) looked at 175713/12812.73 = 14 Science, almost double the base value so over powered even at the lowest level. Now: Looks at the funds taken by the outsourced r&d aka (-9248) 9248/12812.73 = 1 science, 3508/12812.73 = 0 science. You spent 5% of the funds and you get ~5-10% increase in science providing you earn enough so it doesn't round to zero. TL: DR looks to be working correctly, they balanced it since last patch.

Yep - pretty much this - external fuel ducts are very bugged. Sometimes lead to engines draining from wrong tank. - - - Updated - - - Yes - all 4 side tanks are attached correctly - central engine drains just 1 side tank, and ignores the fuel in the central tank for no reason. All arrows correct, tanks open etc...

External fuel duct has new bugs. I have a strange situation where the engine is only taking fuel from 1 of the 4 side tanks, but refuses to take fuel from the central tank or any of the others - it is as if the engine believes it is attached to the wrong fuel tank??? Anyway I can still manually transfer fuel to the 1 used tank, but it does mean that the space kraken is giving my space ship a lop sided weight problem. The central tank (to which the engine is attached) is 100 full and open, but the engine cuts out when the side tank drains. Bug - Fuel ducts not working properly / engine associating with wrong fuel tank.

So while I was bored waiting for 1-point-friggin-zero to release *verysoon I decided to try and remake ULA's new Vulcan Rocket in KSP If you don't know what the Vulcan rocket is you can find out here: http://spaceflightnow.com/2015/04/13/ula-unveils-its-future-with-the-vulcan-rocket-family/ Basically it is a heavy payload rocket where the most expensive part of the rocket is reusable - only the do this in a much simpler way than SpaceX using parachutes.

My main problem and my main reason for stopping playing is that to do anything fun I have to be inspired to achieve a goal. Inspirations don't happen every day.

I saw the headbump method successfully exit Kerbals atmosphere, so decided to push things to the next level. I present the Starship: COLOSSUS. Sporting a mighty 1 Kerbal of thrust the Colossus

Do you feel KSP is ready for 1.0?
Awsum0 replied to hoojiwana's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Sadly I feel that the balance of the game has pretty much collapsed - science mode was great, but the numbers are so far off in Campaign mode at the moment that it is detrimental to the experience. -
The new drag model is exciting news that may finally stop nose cose being a purely cosmetic item - are there any details around on this beyond the 2 lines in the notes? (We’ve redesigned the way drag is calculated, now it will take into account things such as part occlusion, facing, and got rid of the calculation being based on part mass.)

The Mission itself - 100 brave Kerbals head to distant planet Duna
-
Attaching the lander to the Booster stage to create a manned firework

Part 2 is up, as I build the Super uber heavy booster stage (oops those sound levels :urk:)
-
Update: The mission After the huge success of much national prestige that led to one hundred Brave Kerbals nobly facing a slow death in the cold vacuum of the Mun, the wise rulers of North Kerbalia have been instructed by glorious and infallible ruler Kerbal Jong Un to improve national moral further still by carrying out a mission to land 100 Kerbals upon distant Duna - hence proving eternally superiority over decadent inferior capitalists. Part 1: Building the Lander There were absolutely no problems whatsoever during the mission, and anyone who says otherwise is a dirty stinking traitor. This was a completely intentional manned fireworks display to celebrate birthday of glorious leader.

Brave volunteers of Northern Kerbalia do not expect nor need rescue like decadent people of South Kerbalia. They give lives willingly for glory of Nation.

So it had been a long long while since I visited the old Mun in Kerbal Space Project - I wanted to go again, but travelling to the moon for a quick visit is as reliable and easy as Apollo 13 for me these days. Obviously I needed more of a challenge. So I will not just go to the Mun, I will go to the Mun ONE HUNDRED TIMES all at once http://youtu.be/NPC47PTY8pk?t=42m16s I started off my Mun mission by loading 100 Kerbals into a giant lander, then plonking it on top of an old heavy launcher I had sitting in storage... The results were less than Optimal... http://youtu.be/NPC47PTY8pk?t=2m41s Results were... less than ideal. The first attempt span out of control, after which things began to go on a sharp downwards trend... Naturally on all the testing phases I was sure to load aboard a full compliment of 100 Kerbals - Many hundreds of Kerbals gave there lives in this Mun mission. The first versions had not nearly enough power to make it to the Mun with this massive payload, so I added a little new first stage. The payload proved a little on the heavy side, solution? MORE ENGINES FOR THE ENGINE GOD! - 40,000 kiloNewtons of thrust was just enough to nudge my ship the first few thousand meters... http://youtu.be/NPC47PTY8pk?t=7m13s This worked perfectly first time... With the possible exception of all the spinning out of control and massive amounts of death. Time for another 100 'volunteers' to be loaded aboard and have another go. They also all die... Hmm, Well eventually I successfully launch my Mun mission. http://youtu.be/NPC47PTY8pk?t=10m47s Perfect seperation - this bit had me sweating. http://youtu.be/NPC47PTY8pk?t=17m44s I get a nice parabolic tragectory out to the Mun http://youtu.be/NPC47PTY8pk?t=26m19s Slowly I bring the beast down to the perfect verticle landing... Horizontal landing. http://youtu.be/NPC47PTY8pk?t=38m57s TOUCHDOWN! Time for the photo shoot http://youtu.be/NPC47PTY8pk?t=41m31s http://youtu.be/NPC47PTY8pk?t=41m55s
